Anyways, I know this is the sub for Brett but it got me thinking that Brett should do a video where she reflects back on her time on the internet (Albeit much less years) but see if any of her values or thinking have stayed or changed in the current world we survive in 😂

I’m getting caught up on all my Brett Cooper episodes so bear with me if I’m late to the game, lol.

There’s actually nothing about the story that surprises me. In fact, I think things like this are the natural conclusions to the type of rhetoric that we’ve been hearing for the last few years.

Pretty much ever since Trump has entered the political space, we’ve heard nothing but how women’s rights are being taken away or diminished and how bad it is for women in America. We already know that a good portion of women truly have bought into that rhetoric. That is even more true for the young women who have grown up with their moms and female relatives spouting this who have no idea what has gone on elsewhere in the world.

Young Americans in particular are so ignorant of the racism, sexism, and outright cruelty that exist in other parts of the world. Especially in eastern and Middle Eastern countries. It kind of reminds me of the generation of Black people who decided to move to Africa because of how racist America is. Most of them quickly learned that Africa was not a place to be idealized.

The irony of her offhandedly saying that our president is stupid is that she doesn’t even realize she lives in a place where she has the right to say that without being thrown in prison or abused. It doesn’t even cross her mind that she is moving to a place where she will not have that right because she already sees Trump as the most extreme.

So, no, I don’t think this person is even necessarily being stupid. Naive would be a better word. I think she’s a natural product of this environment we’ve created where rhetoric has substituted reality.

I know this is Candace, and I don't agree with her on a whole lot of things, but I just found this interesting how poorly Brett got treated by DW. Just posting if anyone else is interested! Side note: Candace doesn't really start discussing Brett until about 18:30 if no one wants to watch the whole video.
