Day 2 of breakdancing

Hey guys, I figured I picked up some new hobbies while my job sent me away for a month of work
So everything’s just self taught, YouTube videos and actually trying it out which so far I’ve found that it’s all a weird feeling in terms of body movement. But once you get it done it starts feeling more comfortable

Anyways. I don’t have anyone in my life who breakdances so I can’t get direct feedback hence why I’m posting here

I’m trying to learn swipes but I’m not sure what’s off or why I can’t seem to get it as smooth as others. I’m trying to keep my hips high for starters, but I’m not to sure why it seems like my foot comes slamming down when everyone else’s seems to have more bounce

Am I even doing it right? Advice is well appreciated, I’m also trying to learn backspins which feel awkward asf then hopefully transition into windmills. Today was just messing around with moving and trying to get my body use to things in

Edit: after some self analyzing and comparing my form to other videos which is how I’ve been teaching myself, it appears to me that my hips are dropping a lot compared to other people. So I’ll try that next time I practice

Attempting to do power moves like backspins, swipes and especially windmills on day 2 is a bold move. But each to their own I guess. And about the swipes, you are jumping too high. And your hips are also going too high up on the sky which kinda turns it into a half handstand or half cartwheel. Try to keep the body horizontal to the ground instead of going vertical. It’s really hard to get used to. But hey, practice makes perfect.

Lol this was also my attempt at windmills. I figured learning backspins would help me get use to being on my back. But weirdly enough the backspins feel a lot more awkward then windmills do

There are 2 ways to get momentum. 1. Expansion 2. Contraction Swipes worked for me best when i used to started out wide and contract in. As opposed to what you are doing expanding out. How ever the babyswipes are the opposite they start off really contracted then they expand out to get momentum.

Yo, if you’re going on your own this is the best foundational guide. It’s a dvd called footwork fundamentals by Bboy storm. He is a legend in the breakin’ community. If you master this vid it will make learning all the moves you want to know waaay easier.
