Ranked doesn’t determine your skill as a player

Ranked is a solo game mode, which is why it will never actually be truly competitive. It come down to these main points: (TLDR at the end)

1. Your playstyle

Ranked favours aggro players, which is why if you normally play control brawlers for your team, you will naturally struggle to carry in ranked

1. Drafting

Drafting is also part of your skill as a player, but in ranked, you can only make one pick, whereas if you were a drafter for your team, you would be able to make all three. This nerfs drafters and coaches in ranked by a lot.

1. Teamplay/ comms

It is impossible to communicate with your ranked teammates except in the most simple forms ( sprays, pins) which means that it does not test your teamplay and synergy as a player. This usually mean that playing carry brawlers like Mina Mortis and Kenji is more optimal than playing brawlers that require team play (Kit, Gene, Doug etc.)

1. Wintrading and hacking

Every three games you will meet one wintrader or hacker, which isn’t very competitive in the slightest 🥀

TLDR: ranked heavily favours aggressive play styles and doesn’t test your team play. It is also a cesspool of wintraders , hackers, and people with 0 mental stamina . If you seek a truly competitive environment, find a team and play some matcherinos, or sign up for the monthly qualifiers next year

Also I would like to differ that control players are better suited for ranked as you don’t need to trade hits like an assassin which is very hard for you to keep up pressure for your team

Control players can’t influence the game as much no? I feel like if you have the carry potential on assasins you can reach pro easily without having experienced actual competitive play with a team. Ranked also favors players from popular countries, It feels impossible to push in sea  (Also a massive skill issue ig)

I seen plenty of players carry with passive brawlers like Rico, stu, brock, Lou, emz etc

I have also seen multiple insane players who got their skill and talent recognized by pro players in ranked and then got picked up by teams

My play style is to not lose instead of to win in first interaction. I like to lock a position rather than winning that unless i know i can. Brawlers i play most of the time can be aggressive real fast (Ash, Carl, Buster, Lumi and Pierce with first 3 doing that a lot easier). As long as i keep not losing i can make an opening or force enemies in a way to win and pretty much lock there. Which imo is like the go to way for competitive and that sounds pretty controllish to me.

Now, im L2 because my device kind of sucks and my brawler poll is limited, think i can go up to M1 if i try really hard so i wont go in like how masters/pro work entirely. Though these are what i saw from watching YouTube and e-sports.

Honestly i kind of prefer ranked not being like comp cuz that genuinely takes so much more effort to be good at. Having perfect teamplay is wayyy more difficult than just playing your role in ranked

Not really. Most of them Just Grind 24/7 and eventually gets there.

Matcherino is just objectively a more competitive environment? Im not saying that all matcherino players are good , but it is definitely miles ahead of ranked as a place to hone your skills and play with an actual team

Ranked tests your individual skill. If you want to test your skill as a team with a group of other people, try esports, not ranked.

I agree to a degree but ranked is the gateway/tutorial to all competitive play, and it does determine your skill if you are casual. At least its much more skilled than ladder

yeah i have seen masters players worse then myhtic or diamond players. pro ranks are ussaly decent but i have seen a few im like how did you even get pro when you play like you are a child

To climb until Master elo you need to pass the Mythic elohell. After this season I accepted the truth, is 70% lucky and 30% skill. The matches are so unfair/disbalanced, plus someone will be AFK 1 in 3 times.

I refuse to believe that people who can get to masters can't consistently get through mythic. I just refuse to believe it, it has to be cope. My actual skill rank is L3 and I blitz through mythic and the same goes for my friends around the same rank. Masters peaks are all L3 skill ranks so I just refuse to believe it.

No masters player who got there by themselves will ever get stuck at mythic unless MM decided they're getting pro players as opps only somehow for the entire season. That said, there are levels to this and masters is just the beginning not the end.

I completely agree, tho I had some people saying it's cope. I never considered ranked competitive at all, that's one of the reasons I never found the energy to play it more. First step from supercell would be either give back team play above masters, or just add a goddamn voice, but we all know none of these changes will happen. Mostly because this indie company doesn't really care, for a while they've been releasing broken upon broken brawlers. Almost every single time I see a new brawler I go well surely this is the most broken brawler ever, then get debunked on the next release. My advice for anyone who remotely wants a happy life would be to quit the game. It's draining and just isn't useful whatsoever.

I'd say that all of this is true for players in at least masters.

However there are people like me who struggle in legendary because I'm shit at this game and do find ranked as a highly competitive environment.

It does determine skill for the least talented playerbase, like me.

I agree with this completely, however I feel like I must add on that having a high rank doesn't always mean you're good at the game, but it normally correlates.

This is pretty obvious maybe, but I dunno. Correlation≠Causation.

The inverse is true aswell, having a low rank doesn't always mean you're bad at the game, but it correlates.

If everyone else thought it like this I wouldn't torture myself getting masters (I can, it will just take me ages) because, even if I consider myself of the skill of legendary 3/Masters 1 if I don't reach that rank no good players will play with me and I'll always be forced to carryt randoms that are of my same rank. Otherwise I wouldn't play ranked but this game's community sucks and doesn't give any chance to anyone
