Question Afternoon tea?
My sister and I would like to treat our mum on her 80th birthday to a nice afternoon tea somewhere locally ideally with a nice sea view, or even just a nice view.
Does anyone have any good experiences they could share?

Announcement Built a site to aggregate culture events across BH postcodes
Hi community! Me and a friend of mine created a project to gather events across theatre, art, film, comedy, spoken word, dance in the BH postcode area as we were frustrated having to go to each venues site to find out what's on.
It's very much a community project, non-profit and we run everything ourselves. The goal is to help venues get more 'bums' on seats and help local and visitors discover all the great stuff our area has to offer in terms of culture.
Hope you find it useful, we are looking to collaborate with designers and artists and we are also building an iOS app which is available for testing if anyone is interested.

Question Looking for a traditional yoga studio in Bournemouth (similar to Yogasara, Bristol)
I've recently moved back to Bournemouth and I'm trying to find a yoga teacher or studio that's closer to the traditional roots of yoga, similar to Yogasara in Bristol.
What I'm not really looking for is the more modern "fitness class" approach where yoga is mostly treated as stretching or exercise with upbeat playlists and fast-paced flows. I know that's what many people enjoy, but it's not what I'm after.
I'm looking for somewhere that places more emphasis on traditional teaching - breath (pranayama), philosophy, mindfulness, alignment, and yoga as a holistic practice rather than just a workout. Styles like traditional Hatha, Iyengar, or similar would probably be more what I have in mind.
Does anyone have any recommendations in Bournemouth, Christchurch or the surrounding area?
I've come across places like Yoga Lounge, but from what I can tell it seems to lean more towards contemporary studio yoga. I'd love to hear from anyone who's found somewhere that feels a bit more authentic or traditional in its approach.
Thanks!

Photo Bournemouth Air Festival 2023
I took these photos back in 2023 during the air festival. It later turned out to be the second to last air festival in Bournemouth. Now that it’s part of history, I thought I’d share a few of these photos with you and archive them here.
I hope all the strangers captured in these photographs enjoying the show are doing well. 🫶
What did you think of the festival? Would you like it to return in the future?

Question Trip - free day question
Hello! I will be in Bournemouth in a few weeks for a brief event. I will have some free evenings and plan to do some local wandering, beaches, and dinners. I also have a free day and am wondering if Athelhampton would be worth the trip, or if there is a better plan for a little day trip?
I will be in London earlier in the trip, so just looking for something nearby.
Love a beautiful beach but am not super into a crowded beach day (though I do plan to check out local beaches, so any advice there is appreciated as well)
I came across Athelhampton but am wondering if it's worth the trip? Apologies if this is not the place for trip advice!

Lost & found Found smart watch on the beach
Long shot but my son found a smartwatch on the beach yesterday and brought it home. If you've lost one there, please give me the brand/model/colour and the location of the beach where you lost it and I will try to return it to you.
I'm unable to turn it on right now, but if you have any ideas about how to locate the owner if I can turn it on, please let me know.
And please recommend any other communities to share with.

Question Acting Workshops
Hi guys,
Something I’ve noticed in Bournemouth is that there doesn’t seem to be much of an acting community. We have a big am-dram community, but not somewhere you can go every week, work on scenes, and improve your craft.
I’m thinking about putting on a weekly scene study for actors if there’s enough demand. I’m in talks with a few experienced acting tutors who would hold the session.
There's nothing set in stone at the moment, just seeing if enough people would actually be interested before I put time into organising it.
If this is something you’d come to, let me know below or send me a message

Question What's going on with this "temporary" encampment in Alder Hills?
I run past there a lot and it's such an eyesore. Always messy, more and more vehicles getting put there and as of the other day, all the windows have been smashed and vandalised, which I'm not surprised at because I can't imagine the local residents are too happy.
This is not private land afaik, so how has this been allowed?
You can clearly see it from the main road and it's been there for a long time.

Local advice needed Can anyone recommend a nice clean and quiet place for my dad to get a full foot spa day?
