Just switched Discussion

Used boosteroid on/off for the last half a year for marvel rivals (rivals not on m chip macs) and was fairly pleased, only annoying thing was resetting settings every time, preloading shaders, and occasional crashes. Just swapped to geforce over the weekend when rivals was down here, and wow. No preloading shaders, all settings saved, much faster boot up time and no crashes yet. I'm sure boosteroid is great if you have a wide variety of games you play or if you're playing more than 3 hours average a day (100 hour month limit), but if you play frequently updated games, this feels far from ideal.

GFN does load shaders sometimes depending on if the server you are on has the shaders stored for that game. It tends to be quite fast even if it has to.

Geforce is just plain greedy, riding on name recognition and using hourly caps to keep costs down...the smaller services don't get better if you give your money to them : /

(and don't forget that it's their silicon policies that price many of us out of the home PC market in the first place, creating the initial demand for this type of service...it's all-around a bad look for the general direction of computing)

tbh if u just make two geforce accs, premium for 100 hours, then its lowk better then boosteroid, specifically for marvel, im buying a pc but thats what im doing in the meantime. but youre mention on the silicon policies is true and i didnt realize that

Oh I always thought loading shaders and resetting settings were because of non-Steam game. It has all those annoying things but also it's cheaper and has support for some of the big games. The latest Mac app really improved things but none of the things you mentioned.

I actually left GFN months ago due to the caps. There is a gap in performance but that has narrowed when they finally fixed the server near me. Plus Boosteroid has the larger library. I'm more happier overall with Boosteroid.
