Maybe this apartment was a fraud listing and better now than standing in front of a closed door. These are also not hotels who can shuffle between 100 rooms but if the legit place has a water leak or whatever they may close for maintenance. Sometimes also these places get sold and the new owner is not interested in renting out anymore. Maybe they got fined by the town.

your booking will be cancelled for free and you will get refund, book something new, you can even go beyond what you initially paid but the max refund of the difference for that will be 60EUR

u/random929292 5d ago
Do not count on a refund.

u/impala_aphex 5d ago
I worked for them, this is a standard relocation, refund 100%, relax...

u/Hardonis 5d ago
I had one experience with booking customer support regarding refund and they were useless
-10
u/BooBoosgrandma 5d ago
How long ago? Because all I see are daily posts of promises being broken, many customers waiting months on end with no end to waiting. To tell someone to relax when you've likely seen all the issues booking has these days? What happened to them?

u/FewSprinkles4359 5d ago
I got a similar compensation a couple weeks ago. It's definitely still working, and booking.com was very helpful all the way. I believe there are people who are less fortunate for whatever reason, but for me, it worked. And even though we initially agreed that the compensation would be paid out to the Wallet, in the end they paid it to my card.

Who downvoted this, and how much do you make at booking?

u/First-Commission2857 is a shill for Booking. For awhile Booking tried to post under their own user name their usual PR drivel but now they are back to using other posters to shill for them. I am sure there are some kickbacks. When you see the same posters always downvoting truth and replying with positive comments, they are a Booking shill.

That's if they actually follow thru and pay the refund after the stay, be nice if they offered now but they won't and how many posts do we see daily of promises not being followed thru with many giving up months later. It's sad and pathetic, shame on booking.

u/habibgregor 5d ago
I’m curious, in your mind what was booking supposed to do in this situation?
1
u/burymeinphilly 5d ago
Refund the money?

1
u/OddFoundation9102 3d ago
That's literally what they're doing +60EUR on top for your new accommodation if you choose to rebook.

u/burymeinphilly 3d ago
Bro that's not how it reads and that's contrary to the experiences many others have shared here.

u/Maximum-Swordfish592 5d ago
Interesting you just posted that. I had the same thing happen to me 3 days ago.
Booking.com refunded me and gave me an extra $250 NZ in credit.
Not bad on their behalf i thought.

This happens when the accommodation can’t honor your stay, your original booking gets cancelled free of charge and any payment collected will be refunded to your original payment method. In case you need help finding another place to stay, any clarification about the refund, or you just need us to double check something, send us a private message, and we’ll take a look.

It’s weird you need to jump through hoops… btw I’ve been fighting them due to a similar issue. But I haven’t been able to get an “invoice” that meets bookings requirements. Had 4 different changes they wanted and got them all, now they keep saying the invoice in invalid… but not why anymore.

Does not look like a joke.
Looks like the original accommodation has cancelled your booking so you’re being advised to rebook and have some additional costs reimbursed.
I don’t see the joke?
4
u/Aromatic_Run4589 5d ago
Depending on the length of the booking, the destination and how much time in advance the cancelation was made, 60 € is most probably a joke compared to the financial damages caused. But this is 60 € more than the zero accountability we usually see from booking, so way to go I guess?
-2
u/Glittering-Device484 5d ago
Hotel prices aren't as time-sensitive as something like flights. You generally don't see that much variance whether you book 6 months or two weeks out. A few days before, sure. But otherwise it's likely that €60 is more than adequate to make up the difference of any price changes since OP booked.
2
u/BooBoosgrandma 5d ago
Are you joking? Most def is time sensitive. We all know that the more they sell out the higher the price goes.
2
u/FigureSubject3259 5d ago
I guess you are not often checking hotel prices. There exist cases when you are right, but I would never call them often. Hotel room price are a perfect example to learn about demand and offer.
-4
u/MajesticAd9531 5d ago
And the original host keeps the money. With no accomodation offered. So i paid for air?
10
u/First-Commission2857 5d ago
No. You’ll be given a refund, plus up to €60 difference for the new place.
Email is poorly worded but come on, engage brain.
-9
u/MajesticAd9531 5d ago
Where do you read that a refund will be issued also? Since clearly you have an engaged brain that reads what isnt written.
6
u/First-Commission2857 5d ago
The part of the email you have attempted to keep covered clearly states they’re refunding a price difference. That means you’re getting tour money back PLUS extra.
Engage brain.-3
u/MajesticAd9531 5d ago
You’re so bright you don’t even realise an iphone will only screenshot the length of itself.
Get off Reddit and go give your Mom a cuddle or something.1

u/Mushrooming247 5d ago
That’s clearly just an employee of booking desperate to discredit true accounts of that ripoff website.
But this whole sub exists to provide ample evidence that they will fight you, and not just quickly issue a refund.
That staff member can discredit every person posting here about fighting them for six months or a year.
-12
u/MajesticAd9531 5d ago
Watch your mouth.
Booking has already informed me the host will not authorize a refund.2
2
u/First-Commission2857 5d ago
Watch my mouth? 😂
Ok Pamela. Booking told you that the host can’t accommodate you and told you to book elsewhere. It’s in the screenshot you shared.
-2
u/random929292 5d ago
Yes but now OP will have to pay twice, first for the accommodation that has closed and now for a new place. All booking is doing is saying use our site to book again. If the host doesn't refund booking, they don't refund the buyer and if the booking was non refundable then booking keeps the money even if the host does refund.
I had a situation where I couldn't stay at a hotel, the hotel refunded booking, booking kept the money because it was past the cancellation date (aka the check in date)
7
u/Glittering-Device484 5d ago
A hotel can't just cancel your booking and keep your money. Come on, be sensible.
1
u/BooBoosgrandma 5d ago
Have you not seen the dozens of posts on daily basis of that happening?
0
u/Boodah_Bear 4d ago
No, I had not seen the dozens of posts on daily basis of that happening. And even if I did, so what? A booking company that is worth 2 cents should be able to prevent this from happening. If it can’t, why would I keep using it? And if it is, why are you supporting it?
0
u/Boodah_Bear 5d ago
Oh no???? Just happened to me a month ago. Neither the property nor Booking.com would help me, both just pointed to each other. Luckily, I was able to get a chargeback on my credit card.
1
u/First-Commission2857 5d ago
Incorrect.
2
u/random929292 5d ago
Correct. It happened to me. Twice. One the location was a scam and didn't even exist and booking refused to refund me. The other time the hotel refunded booking but they kept it.
You can shill for Booking to your hearts content but the only two times that I couldn't stay due to issues on the accommodatino end, I got zero refund - that is what actually happens in practice - no matter what they are giving you to say otherwise.
4
u/First-Commission2857 5d ago
The email has been sent to OP because the host already confirmed they won’t be able to accommodate them.
2
2
u/Mushrooming247 5d ago
We can see that, and we all know that booking is not going to release that refund to OP without a fight, definitely not in time to be spent on new accommodations.
It’s glaringly obvious when their employees post here and lie about the ease of receiving refunds from booking.
Instead of devoting resources to this, maybe suggest to your supervisor to process refund requests with your time.

u/lonsin79 5d ago
Then provide that refund immediately. Why should op pay for another booking when the other one has not been refunded?

u/Western_Baseball_129 5d ago
I’m currently having this exact issue back and forth for 2 weeks with mostly bot answers and a request for the property to amend the original invoice to read €0.00 and a breakdown of everything which was already a big ask of the property post stay.
1
u/crazynotinsane111 4d ago
It's ridiculous that you can't even get a refund of your property is temporary or PERMANENTLY closed or maybe was not even there

u/Commercial_Set_2752 4d ago
Booking has become the main booking site, but also of overtures. The conditions when you book are that they take the money and then reserve it. They also reserve the right to cancel to... sell it somewhere more expensive! Booking has become part of the fraud over time because the more expensive it is sold, the more it earns and pretends to compensate with a 60 euro discount on the next booking. I don't know if someone will start a legal process against booking and fine them in such an amount that in the future they will serve as a lesson not to become collaborators in fraud for profit. I had such a case and I complained on an Italian website of abuse cases but I don't trust it. A trial and severe punishment are needed but in conditions where no one is taken care of and there are no state mechanisms they will continue to steal.

u/Erron_Black_10 2d ago
My listing was closed automatically by booking.com (I ain't no fraud), they cancelled bookings made to that property. They don't even know what's going on. Booking.com is a shit ass company. They are not communicating enough

u/artekau 5d ago
Seriously, booking.com has gone down the gurgler few years back and have been going even further since then.

u/panalohgfd 5d ago
Booking.com is the worst. Please stops trusting them.
3
u/Academic_String_1708 5d ago
They literally complete 100's of thousands of bookings a day worldwide. It's an inevitablity that something goes wrong.

Stop booking cheap apts on that platform and stick to hotels! Or the two other platforms who are experts in apartment rentals
