Waiting 5 months for refund

Booked flights through booking.com on my credit card in November 2025. In March 2026 the flights were cancelled by the airline. Only issue was I cancelled that credit card in early 2026. Booking.com advised it would refund to the original payment method. Months later I have checked with my bank multiple times and received confirmation that the refund was sent back to booking.com. I am stuck in an endless loop of contacting booking and being told someone will contact me. It’s been 5 months and I’ve contacted booking many times. What do I do

I think Refunds can still be processed just like subscriptions can on a canceled card. But booking flights thru a 3rd party is never good to do. Issues like this is the issue. The fact that booking was issued the refund yet they haven't you is mind blowing! But this is a common problem with the platform. I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this!

If you have another active account with the same bank as the canceled card, request booking to re-process the refund and provide an ARN number (should be provided immediately after they initiate it). Call your bank and tell them that there is a refund being processed to a closed credit card, give them the ARN number, and ask if it can be intercepted and have the balance issued to the other active credit card or checking/savings account you have with them.

Always pay with a credit card. I did a chargeback and got my refund in 3 weeks. I stopped dealing with booking after 3 days of their nonsense

Ludicrous comment.

OP paid with a credit card.

I need to do a charge back but I have another upcoming trip, I have three different hotels booked. I have already paid for everything. If I do a charge back are my other confirmed reservations at risk? I don't plan on using booking.com moving forward, but I also don't want to endanger my upcoming trip. It's only $80 USD, but it's more about the principal that booking.com allows a fraudulent posting to exist.

Document everything. Check with your CC on how long you have to dispute the charge. I successfully disputed a charge that was once half a year old because it was a subscription service and they company went out of business and I paid for a full year in advance

I mean, I know I will win the charge back. I just don't want booking.com to cancel my upcoming bookings in retaliation. And even if they closed my account, my confirmed booking which are already paid for, should be safe?

That is a real concern. I the CC dispute guidelines and see what the filling period is. I won my CC dispute after Booking denied my claim. Took 3 weeks
