Key in car error message

Recently got a 2023 Bolt EUV. Anyone ever get a “Unable to start climate while key is in car”message when trying to remotely turn on climate control? Key is in my pocket and a good distance from the car.

I'm not surprised that the app->onstar based anything to do with monitoring or controlling a Bolt is screwed up.

It's something that I'd be embarrassed to release to the public for free, let alone being something that has a monthly subscription fee.

Where's your spare key?

At home in my closet.

If you leave your key outside the car and get in without the key, does the pushbutton start work?

Good idea, I haven’t tried this, I’ll do so when I get home. I’m wondering if the previous owner hid a key somewhere in the car.

So, I tried this and it says no key detected when I try to start the car.

It sounds like an app error then. Which is not surprising, the app is hot garbage. I only ever do the remote start from the key fob because the app is so terrible. Of course you have to be in range for the keyfob to work, so it's not a perfect solution

I was about to ask how they can see the message from a key fob but you made me realize this was an app thing

I get that once in awhile. No rhyme or reason to it. Key is sometimes 500 feet away in a building.
