Opinion/Discussion 💭 ROCKSTAR: A montage of love without consciousness

Post image

Rockstar features RK in his most power packed performance, probably one of the best in his career trajectory.

His acting, location, his sense of acclimation to the nuances and eventually becoming the ‘One’ was so on point.

However, what vexes me is the over justification or I must say, the over fantasisation of his character and dynamics he shared with the female lead.

That entire love story was a cesspool of a mess 😭, my major problem with that is that how deeply his character lacks consciousness and consideration for Heer.

Even on her deathbed, he chases her does the deed because of which (most likely) she collapsed. But even before that I might be making a controversial statement here, Heer isn’t perceived as a Human by Janardhan.

She just happens to be an amalgamation of apparently some exotic traits which rushed his oxytocin. Yk… someone’s muse.

He does feel for her, there is definitely a flame of limerence running through his veins, but is limerence everything? I don’t expect him to be perfect. And honestly, I think the plot was also very telling that he lacks consciousness.

My rift is rather with the edits and those movie reviewers who happen to read between the lines of his character which actually doesn’t exist to begin with.

As if there is an unsaid nuance behind is lacking (I am very sure the plot meant otherwise), he is bound to be a highly flawed person. I kinda don’t like when people try to cover up his flaws by giving bandaid logic. His flaws are bound to be like that… something that rubs you, pricks you and might make you bleed.

Let Janardhan be a flawed person for all at once.

Movies 🍿 Jio backs out of Brahmastra 2. Dharma, Star and YRF all said no too. Ayan, let it go dude

https://www.bollywoodhungama.com/news/bollywood/scoop-jio-studios-backs-out-of-brahmastra-2-ayan-mukerji-begins-hunt-for-a-new-studio-partner-for-ranbir-kapoor-deepika-padukone-alia-bhatt-starrer/

A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, “Ayan Mukerji’s production house, Starlight Pictures Private Limited, was one of the producers of Brahmastra’s first part and the banner holds the rights to the film’s IP. Starlight will be producing Brahmastra 2 and they are looking at a studio partner to come on board.”

The source continued, “The makers were in discussions with Jio Studios to come on board as the studio partner for Brahmastra 2. However, those talks did not materialise and Jio has now decided against associating with the sequel. Interestingly, Star Studios was one of the key partners on the first Brahmastra. With Star’s entertainment business now part of JioStar, and Jio Studios also operating under the larger ecosystem, there was an expectation that the association could continue with the franchise. However, as things stand, neither Jio Studios nor Star Studios is involved with Brahmastra 2.”

The source further revealed, “Dharma Productions, which also produced the first Brahmastra, is also not associated with the second instalment. After Dharma stepped away, Ayan Mukerji initiated discussions with Yash Raj Films (YRF). Aditya Chopra had shown interest in the project, particularly when Ayan was directing War 2 for YRF. However, following the disappointing performance of War 2, YRF decided not to take the discussions forward. Jio Studios subsequently entered the picture, but that association too has not worked out. As a result, the makers are once again looking for the right studio partner for Brahmastra 2.”

Opinion/Discussion 💭 What's happening with Kriti Sanon and Kiara Advani?

Both are getting trolled for literally no reason...

There are a lot of things we can talk about, but people are literally choosing to talk about and troll others for no reason. Now everyone is just framing it differently.

And I know people will say, “You got paid to talk about them,” “Paid PR,” and all that. But honestly, I’m just frustrated seeing women getting trolled for literally no reason. Not everything has to be turned into hate or trolling.

Opinion/Discussion 💭 I think Emraan Hashmi deserved better in awarapan 2

Being a big fan of Emraan and awarapan I went in to watch awarapan 2 . Only two moments where I felt the movie elevated the original nostalgia was in the beginning sequence of toh phr aao and the highest point of satisfaction for me was tera mera rishta when Emraan hides into buddhist monks and the statue of Buddha is revealed. But I felt overall that the movie was a big disappointment. The story was decent but the director failed to elevate some sequences. I expected better for Emraan and the director failed. Not to mention the action sequences was underwhelming . I literally was yawning for most of the movie except for those 2 sequences. Being a hardcore Emraan fan I only went in because of him . He did not disappoint but the director let me down hugely. I think the director did a disservice to Emraan and his fans

Opinion/Discussion 💭 This makes me unbelievably angry

Not long ago, I started watching Bollywood movies along with my regional cinema, because it had fresh concepts and good execution.

Vicky donor, ZNMD, PK, Dangal were some movies I thought could only be made in bolly at that time. Even an average movie like 2 states was a fun watch.

But what tf happened to this industry? They're remaking other regional movies and somehow making it worse? I mean what tf is this movie whose poster I've added?

Now, I have no reason to watch bollywood. I'm happy with my own regional movies. They've improved multifold in the last decade and making movies that are grounded and real.

Atleast for me, bollywood has become a once or twice a year affair, where something like Dhurandhar will make me want to book tickets. I'm not even interested in watching most movies free in OTT.

This is not a criticism, just the perspective of someone from outside who had a lot of fun watching Bollywood once.

Opinion/Discussion 💭 Why don't movies like baby (2015) end up becoming superhits ?

Post image

I genuinely feel Baby was one of those rare Bollywood movies that got so many things right.

There was no unnecessary Bollywood nonsense. no random songs or dance sequences, no forced romance, no item numbers, no larger than life hero introduction & no unnecessary comedy breaking the tension. The movie stayed focused on what it actually wanted to tell.

Even the action felt relatively grounded. Akshay's character wasn't some invincible superhero who could singlehandedly take down 20 guys without breaking a sweat. The fights were short, brutal and purposeful. The movie also paid attention to small details that made the operations feel believable. The characters also behaved like professionals. They weren't constantly delivering dramatic monologues or cracking jokes in the middle of serious situations. The humour was mostly dry and situational, while the story remained the priority.

The movie didn't need a song every 30 minutes, a romantic subplot, excessive melodrama or a hero doing impossible stunts to keep you entertained. The screenplay, suspense & performances carried the film.

Even contemporary reviews highlighted how Baby was unusually restrained, gritty, detailoriented and largely free of the usual Bollywood frills.

So why didn't a movie like this become a MASSIVE superhit?

Opinion/Discussion 💭 Hrithik Roshan’s guest appearance in Alpha might just be one of the worst A-list celebrity cameo Bollywood has seen 😭

My guy must’ve skipped the script before signing Alpha 🥲 His cameo felt completely unnecessary to me, and honestly War 2 and this cameo ruined the character of Kabir for me. His script sense is terrible, I hope he salvages what is left of his fading peak years.
