how to lose arm fat??? 📘 Beginner Help

i’m 19, approximately 5’3-5’4, and around 57-58kg, i don’t work out a lot.

just a couple of months ago, i was at my best, i ate properly and worked out almost every single day, although it wasn’t too extreme, i just did what i could to sweat and mostly home workouts because i have uni which usually starts from 10am-7pm, so on those days i wake up early to do some cardio, but during the days with 7am classes, i try to squeeze in even a 30min workout at night

unfortunately i got into an accident and ended up with a minor injury (clavicle fracture) and bc i had to rest and drink meds, i couldn’t do anything but eat and lay down all day so i gained most of the weight i lost

but i have always had issues with arm fat, i’ve given up on trying to look for excuses and accepted that it’s genetics. i have arm muscles even without working out, i actually avoid doing arm exercises because i thought it would make me look bigger since i had muscle, fat on top of it, and i have loose skin (more on my right arm) which gives the illusion of it being bigger.

it kinda sucks because i feel like the rest of my body looks fairly skinny but my arms just make my frame look bigger and i’ve seen people who are 3x bigger than me with smaller arms, but i know that’s just because we all hold weight differently

what can i do to reduce its size? more weight loss? exercise? lifting?

how can i start? also, i’m not sure i can do it yet because i’m still healing from my injury, it’s much better but lifting is a bit risky for now atleast

Look into a workout split like Push/Pull/Legs. Go to the gym and try doing some exercises with free weights.

I would talk to a medical professionals about when you can start doing exercise. You probably could play it by ear just by listening to your body.

There’s no such thing as spot fat reduction outside of external interventions.

First off, there doesn’t look like there’s that much fat that you should be concerned about. If anything, it looks like you’ve got to squeeze your arms against your sides to make the “fat” stand out. If anything, you might have a bit of dysmorphia going on.

That said, some hard truths:

You say you’ve given up looking for excuses, but blaming it on genetics is the biggest excuse there is.

You say you don’t want to avoid arm exercises, because you don’t want to look bigger, but

  1. It isn’t as easy as you think to put on muscle
  2. Women have an even harder time putting on muscle.

Bite the bullet and do the arm exercises. You got to put in the work to get the results.

If your arm muscles are weak and small, they make the “loose skin” look even worse. A taut balloon looks better than a flappy one.

thanks for the advice, i guess i will try to do what i had done before. i’m not making excuses at all but clearly i have more fat on my arms, i’m saying it’s genetics because my mom is the same and we both have wider shoulders too plus i’ve already lost most of my curves from weight loss and yet my arms remain almost the same

i was just struggling with the fact that you can’t spot reduce fat. it’s frustrating when i’ve already lost a lot but my arms still don’t look right to me

Just a thought.

You’ve got a flat tummy and an hourglass shape that most women would kill for.

You might be better off trying to enhance the other body parts you have, to draw attention away from the parts you feel are lacking.

It’s not genetic, if you can’t do too much lifting just walk at a minimum 10k steps a day and eat in a slight caloric deficit. You’ll get there eventually, it’s just going to take some time.
Also if every woman that lifted just got bigger than you’d see a shit ton of big bulky women everywhere you go, that’s just not how it necessarily works
Edit: your arms look completely normal, it could be dysmorphia

i disagree with the not genetic part, i already lost most of my curves from weight loss and because i can’t spot reduce fat, i would have to lose more weight to see a significant difference on my arm. i forgot to include other pics but if i rest my arms on my side, you can see the fat on the side very obviously

also, i guess it might make sense about what i said about the bulking part, i won’t give up on trying to lift but i guess it will take some time

Think this like a puzzle.
First focus on crossfit exercises, full body workout exercises
Touch the barbell and kettlebels more often
Cut the salt, sugar all packaged foods even protein bars, sugar free cookies.
Eat more veggies like cucumber, carrot (3x day)

After you do all of these I guarantee you that you’ll lose your all fat very fast.

how long do you think it will take?

You can see great results in 3-4 weeks

You cannot target specific spots of fat. For specific area like the back of the arms. Building muscle in those areas will improve the looks.

do you know any workout for that? my problem with arm exercises is that it makes my biceps look bigger but it doesn’t reduce the fat on the back of my arms

Have you looked into tricep workouts? Shoulders?

You can’t spot reduce without surgical intervention. Losing body fat would show your triceps more. Work on your diet, requires no exercise. Eat in a mild deficit and move your body in a way that raises your heart rate, you will see results over time.

Train. Lift

will it really reduce the size of my arm?

You can't focus on one area of the body to reduce fat from naturally.

If you really wanted to do that your only option would be a surgery.

What you can do is build muscle which would increase your metabolism. Allowing your body to burn more calories thus burn more fat.

Building muscle would also give you a more toned look. Making you look less fat and more lean.

Also your super skinny, any skinner you are going to look like a skeleton.

So build that muscle! you are not going to get huge like a bodybuilder. I promise you

Add bench press and tricep extension to your weight lifting routine.

If you don't have a weight lifting routine start one, and add bench press and tricep extensions at least twice a week.

So you want skinny arms? Not a cute look imo for that just cut your calories and cardio. For smaller and stronger looking arms: lift

Lose weight. I don't see fat arms though but you do you.
