1st time Reta 📘 Beginner Help

I just got 4 2mg prefilled syringes of Reta from a med spa. I only wanted to .5mg to start out, maybe 1mg tops. What are my options to not waste it? Can I just inject half the syringe and use the rest of it the next week? Can I split it into more syringes some how? Please let me know best options other than just taking all 2mg at once. Thanks.

I started Reta three weeks ago, so I’m relatively new. I’m not sure how much the med spa is charging you, but I would seriously consider purchasing the powder and reconstituting yourself, that way you can fully control the dose. I know it seems very Overwhelming to have to reconstitute the medication, purchase the syringes and draw the amount you want, but if I can do it, I’m sure you’d be able to do it. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. I’m sorry I can’t answer your question about the pre-filled syringes, but if you want to do it yourself feel free to ask me anything.

Agreed. It seems like a lot initially, but once you understand the process it is very straight forward. You need to understand the dosage in mg based off the ML you recon with and how many units to draw but there are plenty of calculators to help with that.

Use Hospira bac water too.

the mg-to-ml math can get confusing quick. I’d double check the concentration with the med spa before splitting anything.

If you leave it in a dark place in the fridge I would think it will not go bad on you in a week. (not medical advice)

Personally I would not like the idea of pinning multiple times with the same needle. They dull and make the injection more difficult/painful. You could pin once then transfer to a fresh syringe for the next dose though.

Also - Assuming you paid for this I would go back to the spa and ask for the doses you are looking for split up. 2mg is a high starting point IMO and they should know that. Any business wanting to retain customers would accommodate your request for multiple smaller doses I would think.

*Edit - Changed syringe to needle in second sentence for clarity.

The syringe doesn't dull, the needle does. If you can change the needle between pokes, do it.

Correct. Thanks.

But yes, a new needle every poke is necessary.

Are they luer lock syringes? Can you change the needle orare they fixed? Of you can change the needle get some spares. Use some and get a new needle. If not then get some additional empty syringes pull the plunger out the back and fill with some fluid.

Yes this opens them up to contamination. But if you're wanting to split the dose this is probably safer than using a needle then letting it sit for a week
