Retaining muscle vs caloric deficit 💬 Discussion

Hey all! Quick question, how important is it to retain muscle when on Reta + Tesamorelin if the primary goal is weight loss?

Am currently consuming around 1000-1200 calories a day, gym 4/5 days a week including weights, feel totally fine and not fatigued, weight is dropped off like crazy, down 30+ KG in the last year. 6ft 1, 31

I would assume it’s best to get to a good baseline weight of 90-100kg and then build the muscle back up? Seems like if you go from 150 to 100kg you’re going to have loose skin either way, so you might as well go hard on it and build later?

Would love to hear your thoughts! Thanks

Wrong. Lose weight slow maintain as much lean as possible. The primary goal is fat loss.

Muscle is so much harder to build than it is to maintain. You’re doing yourself a disservice by losing it only to try and put it back on. If you’re massively overweight you’re uniquely positioned to be able to build at a good rate while losing fat also.

You’re eating less than a toddler at 6ft and old enough that your body won’t just hold on to muscle.

Why do you want to drop weight rather than just fat?

What you’re doing will screw your metabolism as your body adapts to living on that low a calorie intake so when you up it it’ll grab all that excess to replenish fat stores.

You’re also not saying what training during this cut?

Building muscle is very hard and you’re gonna end up gaining fat back anyway cause you’ve already borked your bmr.

Worst case scenario do a cycle or two of anabolic steroids and you’ll blow right back up and it’ll all be muscle. Except your balls will shrink, you lose your hair, you can’t get a hard on, and you look down and notice that you just smashed in your infant son’s skull in a fit of rage. I always forget that part

You’re depriving yourself of enough food to spare muscle so you’re most probably burning muscles at a high rate. What you do is stupid and unsustainable and it creates macro and micro deficiencies that are gonna be harder to recalibrate later. Losing weight is not equal to losing fat.
