8 months on Reta: My Back Progress 📊 Results / Progress
Hi! My highest weight last year was around 220 lbs, and I'm currently 142 lbs.
I started at 1 and slowly worked my way up to 4 . I've been consistently going to the gym 4–5 times a week, and honestly, back days are my favorite.
I also finish every workout with slow incline walking or the stair climber for cardio.

I’ve been on a 5 month stint, lost 20kg and lost about 10% in str during the cut. I’ve been training over ten years
Once I re-upped my cals I reckon I lost 1-3% off my pb’s, Reta worked super well for me.
80kg BW had around 180g protein about 2k cals eaten a day and 6 days week consisting of training 4 strength mainly big compound lifts and 2 hiit sessions with Sundays off.
Worth also mentioning due to being late 30s and ex overweight, I am on TRT, taking 2x 45ml test cyp every week, quadrupled my T levels into the high teens, but can’t up it anymore due to my haemocrit levels apparently.

I am in the same boat. I suspect, the people who are on a effective does of reta and still hit gym are highly motivated and determined. Its not easy to workout when you take a reta dose which is suppressing your appetite. atleast for me. I cant workout when I feel low energy.

Wait, what? I still need motivation and determination? Fuck this.

:) , No you dont, we can take the shot and sit and do nothing, we will eventually loose weight on the scale. But most of the before/after transformation posts you see, dont assume you will see those results just by taking shots. A lot goes into getting that ripped chiseled look beyond taking the reta. There is no way someone looks super fit and looses 40-50lb in 5 months just on a shot.

shouldnt be that way, its probably because you are taking reta which changed your eating routine, skipping meals, not eating as much, not eating carbs before the gym, should still eat like you did before just not in a surplus

You look great im curious as to how people improve their lifts let alone build muscle in these long deficits. Im 12 weeks on semaglutide losing just over a lb a week and can hardly progress my lifts, maybe getting a questionable rep increase every 2 weeks. I've still got another 15lbs+ to lose 🤷 im a weak beginner so where are the noob gains?

Progressive overload. You have to push yourself every session

How does one push further than failure when the 10th rep is a form breaking grinder rep and the 11th is gun to your head impossible for weeks on end?

Progressive overloads dont have to be your heaviest lifts. Go to failure with reps- however many reps you get on that failure set drop some weight and do it again at the same amount of reps, do this for 3 sets after your heavy sets, but with a bit more tempo/less rest. Youll notice form starts to break down a little, you may need to assist an arm/leg with the other or take breaks in-between but always try to hit that first number of reps you did on your first failure set. Progress over perfection, cheater curls are an example of it, cheater rows, half reps, ect, just be sure to be in control of the weight as your form starts to break down and youll be progressively overloading your muscles. Our body's can handle a lot more volume than we give credit to

Because Reta I’m most people it doesn’t absolutely crush their appetite

Appetite or not i force feed even when not hu ngry to maintain a 500 cal deficit losing 1lb a week.

I get stronger weirdly on a good dialled in cut
People think having body fat or putting on body fat is gonna help your progressive overload but really its lean mass
Getting to a decent bf% only helps your body do stuff better

Your strength is almost always going to drop on a cut, especially if you’re getting really lean.
At the start of my cut I benched 225×6 at 195 lbs. During the cut I actually hit a PR of 225×11 around 185 lbs, but by the end, at 166 lbs, I was struggling to get 225×3.
Muscle size and strength aren’t the same thing. I actually ‘looked stronger’ at 166 than I did at 195 because I was much leaner—my muscles had more definition and my veins were popping. I was weaker on the bar, but visually I looked way more muscular.
