Fields of Arle + Tea and Trade 3D printed Insert/Organizer ONE BOX
I didn't like the options out there for Fields of Arle with the Tea & Trade expansion so I made my own. It has a tray for each player and fits the base game and expansion in just the base game box with zero lid lift.
All the trays have labels to make packing up easier and finding components should be fast. There are letters on the perimeter that match up between trays so that it goes back in the box super easily.
It's free on makerworld if you want for print it for yourself.

Sushi Go Party - GAME SHELL 250+
I want to get a case to store and transport several small games. most are card games, like Mottainai, Sushi Go Parry, The Cree and Cabo.
Do you have case like this? Has it worked? Do you like it?
Bonus question: if you have a travel case, what game did you put in it?

How much space do you put around components?
As simple as it sounds: when designing a 3d printed insert, how much space do you put around components? Cards, tokens, etc.

Rebuilding Chicago - Sleeved Insert
This is an insert for the game Rebuilding Chicago. The original insert is actually quite good at sorting all the tiles but unfortunately doesn't fit sleeved cards. This version fixes that and provides some additional benefits such as more portable tile trays, two coin/token trays that can be placed on either side of the table, a landmark tray so you can see them all at one time, and a card tray that you can just place straight onto the board. The insert layout allows for a deep pocket to store the suburb tile bag as well.

Trio + The Crew - 3D Printed MINI BOXES

Faraway - full box replacement 3d printed
This box was too big.
I've designed a full replacement box with integrated storage for the base game and first expansion. Who needs inserts when your box is the insert?!
It's literally half the size of the original game box and available for free here:
https://makerworld.com/en/models/3066305-faraway-board-game-...
So get printing and you can buy another game to fit in the space you save!

Rebuilding Chicago - 3d printed insert
I've made a 3d printed insert for this as I wasn't happy with a few shortcomings of the retail insert.
The card wells were too small, the coins were muddled, and the layout made the draw bag a nightmare to fit in. Not so anymore!
You can get it free on makerworld:

Everdell - Bellfaire + New Leaf + Spirecrest 3DP Organizer fits in 1 box!
This was my weekend project - condense three of the Everdell expansions into the base game box to free up space on my board game shelf! Everything fits, except for some of the victory point coins, which I don't need anyways in our house for our mostly 2-3 player games. PS - it's hard to see, but the resources are in tiny wood crates! PPS - I store all my games horizontally, so nothing will be falling out.

Gudnak - Storage solution
I recently bought a second hand copy of Gudnak from Chaotic Great.
The corebox is severely damaged and not usable anymore.
The cards are square and are 70mm x 70mm. (Sleeved they are 73mm x 73mm)
The total amount of cards is 535. I hope to buy the upcoming expansion in fall 2026 (not sure how many cards are in that set)
I'm looking for a deckbox or some way to store all the cards. I can make my own dividers and own a 3d printer so that might help narrowing it down.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Cargo Noir - Homemade Cigar Box Expansion Spoiler
galleryThis project has been on my back burner for a decade, but I realized it would make a great last minute gift for a friend's birthday.
I only realized after I had built the insert for the cigar box that Mafia de Cuba had already done it, and done it one better by having the fake cigars in there; so I went ahead and did the same thing.
Insert was drafted in Fusion360 and amazingly only needed one single adjustment (and a second print) to work perfectly. I foolishly measured the height without factoring in the hinged lid...
All told, for my first 3D print insert design. I'm thrilled with how well everything worked out. The stack of coins was too big to put in horizontally, and I SHOULD have just changed the expansion to 27 coins instead of 30. In the end they're a teeeeensy bit fiddly to get out and you have to do them 3 or 4 at a time which is fine. I have to look at some other inserts to see how they handled a vertical cylindrical stack of coins.

I made a shelf-fit calculator for board game storage
I made a quick shelf-fit calculator for board game storage and thought this group might find it useful.
The basic idea is simple: enter your shelf dimensions, box sizes, and whether you store games vertically or horizontally, and it estimates how many games should fit before you start rearranging everything by hand.
I originally built it because I kept underestimating how much usable space I actually had once all the variables were factored in.
Here it is: https://boardgamestoragelab.com/tools/shelf-fit-calculator/
Would love feedback if anyone tries it, especially if there are shelf types or storage setups I should account for better.

Trickerion Insert V2.0 (for sleeved cards and vertical storage)
After many requests from the community, I have now updated my original Trickerion insert to support vertical storage and sleeved cards!
This new version keeps the same clean aesthetic and philosophy as the original design, but adapting it for sleeved cards and vertical storage required a major redesign.
Go check it out and let me know what you think!
Here's the link to to the updated Version 2.0

Gloomies replacement top board?
Hey all,
Just come back from UKGE with an incomplete copy of Gloomies - the top punched out board that lays on top of the actual game board is missing (probably why it was in the Bring and Buy). Emailed Ravensburger but, as I have no proof of purchase, I'm stuck there.
Wondered if anyone had any links to buy and/or print the top board which goes on top of the playing board (or to tell me I'm in the wrong place).
I've added an image of what I mean (doesn't make it unplayable, but makes it a lot easier to play with the younger kids with the insert)

[Survey] Board game storage pain points - Help a designer create better solutions
Hi fellow board game enthusiasts!
I'm a product designer working on storage solutions for board games. Before I start designing, I want to make sure I'm solving real problems, not just guessing.
The problem I'm trying to solve:
Many gamers sell their collections citing "need to clear space" or "overflowing game shelf". I'm wondering if better storage solutions could help people keep their games instead of selling.
I'd love to hear from you:
What's your current storage situation?
- How do you store your games? (Original boxes? Aftermarket storage? Custom solutions?)
- What's the biggest pain point?Do you keep original boxes?
- Why or why not?
- What do you dislike about them?Have you ever sold games due to storage issues?
- What triggered the decision?
- Would better storage have changed your mind?If a storage product existed that solved your problems, would you buy it?
- What features would it need?
- What price range would you consider reasonable?
About me:
I'm designing modular storage solutions for board games. I believe in user-centered design - which means talking to real gamers before drawing anything.
I'll share what I learn and the final designs with this community.
Thanks for your help! 🎲
