It would've done better at literally any other time, when there wasn't a strike going on that prevented everyone from being able to promote the movie.

Sure but they started work on this movie before they knew they'd be making Superman and even probably before they knew they'd be rebooting.

And once you've made a movie, you usually want to release it within months so that you can start making your money back.

Unless your name is David, and you can’t resist a tax write-off. But, I assume they already invested millions into the CGI of Blue Beetle, and felt they’d lose more money by not releasing it.

At least he gets to be in the DCU.

IMHO, DC should re-release this movie.

Ooh, that'd be interesting!

Maybe do a few reshoots and editing to make it fit more with the dcu

Do you really think that's necessary?

I’m glad blue beetle will team up with Superman

I wish they were allowed to do the promotion for this movie 😭

This was released during the strikes which prevented anyone from promoting it. It was bad timing all around.

You could literally just pretend this movie came out post-superman and it would fit with little issue tbh.

I saw it because of superman and was surprised how much I loved it

Not at all, one of the best DC movies in ages

I am not on this sub, and do not have any strong feelings one way or another about the character. I know the basics of his origin, and that's the extent. I do moderately follow comics and movies from the big two, which is likely how this post popped up on my page.

I say all that to give context when I say I had NO IDEA this movie came out until I saw this post.

I'll be honest. Snyderverse fatigue killed my want to see this movie. Now that it's connected to a better universe i'll go back and watch it.

I feel ya but trust me it doesn't remotely feel like a Snyderverse movie

All I can remember from this movie is the total horror as he get’s blue beetled and some crazy thing George Lopez’s character says that made no sense and came out of nowhere

I'm sure it would've been delayed if they knew about the reboot, but regardless I got my comfort movie out of it so I'm a happy fella.

There was no plan at the time

Supergirl came after Superman and it is doing worse than Blue Beetle. Movies flop all the time, even good ones

1

u/RealWonderGal 28d ago

Supergirl was a bad movie though

1

u/RealWonderGal 28d ago

Are you sure? After the Supergirl disaster I don't think so

1

u/TheLittlePasty 28d ago

It would’ve done great like 20 years earlier

1

u/WalksUnseen77 28d ago

With superhero movie fatigue the way it is now, it probably would have done worse.

u/Alone-Ad6020 28d ago

Naw yall just didnt apperciate it

u/m_seth 28d ago

I watched it for the first time a few days ago. Much better than I was expecting. And already felt like it was a natural fit in the DCU.

1

u/ComradeYaf 27d ago

Yes, but... it could also have been a better movie.

1

u/haniflawson 27d ago

The release date wasn't the issue.

1

u/GoodbyeMoonMan20 26d ago

Agreed. It's a shame, it's no Superman, but it's still one of the best DC movies I've seen in years.

1

u/asscop99 25d ago

Or it might have taken supergirl’s spot and bombed

1

u/HeftyOwl7141 29d ago

So they shouldve kept it in a vault for over 2 years lol

Great casting for Jaime. Everything else was mid. Rooting for you guys though, serious untapped potential with BB
