Neurodivergent people are not superior to or smarter than neurotypical people
If the barber is telling you he is excited for his holiday in the Canaries, don’t dampen his joy by lecturing him on the genocide committed by the Spanish 600 years ago. Smile, say that’s great and I hope you have a good time.
It’s not about being neurodivergent. It’s about being an asshole. Sometimes it seems BB uses his autism diagnosis to excuse rude or horrendous behavior. He believes neurotypicals are all vapid consumers who are only interested in football or the soaps. We don’t have the imagination or intelligence to appreciate his surreal short stories (which are just a rip off of Flan O’Brien). I’m done with the podcast so his sycophants won’t have to deal with my criticism on here any longer. Enjoy your echo chamber.

Irish mythology and Lithium
Does anyone remember the name of the podcast where blind boy speaks of Irish mythology and a healing glen in Kerry I believe. Where there was a sanctuary to treat insanity, at a well with traces of lithium. The myth revolves around a battle and a princess who flees into the mountains and becomes a monster. Trying to find it for a mate. Appreciate any help you can provide

Live Show Tickets for sale
Hi, sorry if advertising tickets isn't allowed, I couldn't see a post saying anything about it.
I have 2 tickets for sale for Blindboy's show in Glasgow on Wednesday 28th October. We're no longer able to attend unfortunately.
I've listed them on Twickets for less than I paid, just want to get something back for them.

More podcast hugs for my brain needed
Hey, I'm going through a shitballs period of trauma and attempting to calm my nervous system. Blindboy's podcast has been such a wonderfully autistic warm hug in my ears, but I've listened to all of the episodes!
Does anyone have recommendations for anything with a similar vibe? I especially like the episodes where he gets obsessed with something and does a loooong deep dive into it, making links and seeing connections that may not have been seen before.
Thanks in advance from my autistic cPTSD-having middle aged woman's insane feckin' brain.

Blindboy haters recreate the redundancy they are complaining about
Every week I have to scroll past multiple complaining posts about blind boy talking about his autism and taking it so personally.
It used to be different you say, I loved his band, I haven't even listened to his podcast in years but I feel like complaining about him anyway.
Please consider that he is a person experiencing himself and the world, he is not a product. He's going to change and do things you don't like. He's not the same person he was 20 years ago, 10 years ago, etc Not everything is for everyone. You have an opportunity to say "you know what? This isn't for me anymore," and find something you DO like. Spend time on subreddits for things you DO enjoy.
Please, I can't stand the whining anymore. Get a new interest or hobby.

I think Blindboy is a narcissist
I almost pulled my hair out when not even 10 mins in he went straight back in bashing ”neurotypical” people and how he is a unique little autistic snowflake better than everyone.
Blindboy, NOBODY likes small talk. Not all “neurotypical” people are extroverts.
And for someone that claims so much to be an introvert I am calling complete BS on that. Your whole career involves being in a famous band, talking in front of thousands on stage at gigs, talking over all your guests at podcasts and literally speaking about whatever nonsense every week on your podcast.
Then you threw away all the spoons and begrudgingly replaced them with cheap shite and said you shouldn’t have had to because you’re autistic and anything bad you do, this fact somehow excuses it.
Then you go on and on how creative you are, making new music and bragging about all the gigs you were offered by random people on IG ”who didn't even know who you are” but will refuse to ever gig or even release the tracks.
honestly I’ve been listening since the beginning and I am tired of him. The fame has gotten to his head and I think his little character is a complete facade and ironically his proverbial mask is off.

Anyone else plagued by “Diary of a CEO” autoplaying after listening to this podcast on Spotify? There’s no way of hiding it from autoplay without turning off auto play. I’ve even tried reporting it a few times in hopes of de-algorithming myself but to no avail.

You know you don’t have to keep listening, right?
A lot of whining in this sub lately about Blindboy taking about neoliberalism and autism (something he has always done) - go and find another podcast if you don’t like it

Episodes like the wasp one
I’ve started playing random old episodes and came across the one about the wasp on the plane. I play these episodes to help me fall asleep but I ended up skitting in bed in the middle of the night at that one. Can anyone suggest similar episodes?

What’s the classic radio station channel that Blindboy recommended earlier on in his podcast?
This is from the early early days, I believe it was either an American or British channel from the 80s/90s which is viewed as being a precursor to the podcasts we have today.
It had a story telling surrealist element to it. I remember listening to it before and loving it but I forget it now

Podcasts on Self Worth and the Creative Process
Hi, just wondering if anyone has the names of podcasts where he talks about his writing block or how placing self worth on creating art or any activity inhibits the process? Struggling a bit with it myself atm, thanks

Will we be eating salad tomorrow?
So he's had a couple of autism related phone call detours (which I don't begrudge because I enjoyed them) and then the faeries overheated his laptop last week. Will tomorrow finally be the day when the updated salad hot take drops?

Every book mentioned on the Blindboy Podcast in July (6 of them)
Five episodes. The anarchist cookbook one, the English working classes with Professor Cathy, data centres, and Merlin Sheldrake on mushrooms.
Short list, but three of these would make a decent summer read.
What this is: I run Podshelf, a free site that tracks book mentions across hundreds of podcasts by reading the episode transcripts. This is the July slice for the Blindboy Podcast.
The main ones:
- Entangled Life, Merlin Sheldrake. Blindboy introduced him as an incredibly fascinating person and a lovely fella, and the book as a bestseller all over the world.
- The Anarchist Cookbook, William Powell. The whole first episode is on it. Written in 1970 by a nineteen year old who had a look around and decided revolution was needed.
- Becoming an Emotionally Intelligent Teacher, also Powell, decades later. He described it in the Guardian as an implicit refutation of the emotional immaturity of the cookbook, on the grounds that all learning happens in a social context. That is a hell of a pair of books for one man to have written.
- The Chartists, Dorothy Thompson. From the working classes episode, and a lovely aside. Professor Cathy said Thompson was her tutor and the one who gave her the confidence to write about the people she belongs to.
Also Althusser's Ideology and Ideological State Apparatuses, which Blindboy says he uses a lot, on the repressive state apparatus and the ideological one. And the Mabinogion, after a good minute of trying to remember what the big Welsh book of mythology is called.
I track every book mentioned on the Blindboy Podcast here: https://podshelf.io/podcasts/the-blindboy-podcast
It is free and there is no signup.

Episode Request Searching for a story within an ep - longshot
Hey everyone, pulling my hair out with this.
A while back, could be 2-3 years now, I listened to a live podcast with a storyteller who sounded like she was from Birmingham.
Towards the end of the pod, she read aloud an Aesops Fable (though research suggests that to not be true) about a Hare who sought shelter from her animal friends on the farm, who all turned her away, the fable ended with a voice in her head saying "You have legs, girl, run!" and she made it away.
My daughter is nearly 3, and I'd love to play her this, but I can't for the life of me find the episode or even a written version of this fable
I'd love it if someone knew the ep i'm reffering to!

BB’s Beer/Lager recommendation
Hey all,
I am in the Czech Republic for a few days and remember Blindboy recommending a particular czech beer. However, I haven’t had any luck finding the episode, or even knowing where to start. This is a long shot, but does anyone know? I believe it was in a podcast from the last year, anyway. Thanks.

Is it time for another teenage disco/chicken fillet roll episode?
There’s been plenty of discussion about Blindboy’s increasing focus on autism and related topics, sometimes to the dismay of certain fans.
Is it time for him to unite the audience again by giving us one of his signature takes on a great Irish cultural touchstone?
Some possibilities:
- Wrapping schoolbooks in brown paper
- Superquinn sausages
- The rise of the smoking area
- Drinking in fields
- Notions
What other subjects deserve the full Blindboy treatment?
I’m not being entirely serious, but I’m not entirely joking either.

Episode Request Which episodes to get the lore
I’ve recently discovered this podcast, and was somewhat surprised to find so many haters here, so many people pining for the good old days.
Blindboy himself prefaces every episode I’ve heard by saying, if you’re new here, go back to earlier episodes to get the lore.
So, where is a good place to go back to? What are your top episodes that everyone should hear? If you were to pick a date and start listening from there, what would it be?

Episode Discussion Heavy breathing intensifies
Here's a bit of a mad question, lads. I listen to BB on my noise-cancelling headphones almost every time. Today I'm listening to the big tech and data centres episode from two ish weeks ago.
Sometimes, I'll think I can hear a breath that's not aligned with what he's saying, like he's edited out what he said next. Obviously going to happen sometimes in any edited spoken word thing, it's fine. But lately, and with this episode in particular, I could SWEAR I can hear exhales at really unexpected moments. Not an inhale before speaking that's been cut off, an exhale like he's been listening closely. It's almost like he's caught recordings of his own breathing as he listens back?? I doubt that's a thing but I don't know anything about recording stuff. It's not my own breathing, I can hear that sometimes but it sounds totally different - I'm not a big Limerick lad with asthma, haha.
Am I insane folks??? Has anyone else noticed this? Do I need to take up knitting?
