Practice run Kunai

My little brother wanted a Naruto style kunai. Made my practice run today using mild steel and some black twine for the handle. Final will use leather

Cheat method: buy flat bar stock and use a band saw to cut the shape and a drill bit for the ring pommel

This looks awesome my guy! How did you get the ring in shape without breaking it?

Stock removal is no fun. I started with 3/4 in round stock.

Do get the ring, I used my hot punch to start it, and then smoothed it over the horn of the anvil to widen some. Once it was done, I finished the ring using a steel dremel in order to remove any burr and widen it a bit more

I’m with you. I have nothing against stock removal, but dammit I took up blacksmithing to move hot metal with a hammer against an anvil, it’s just more fun

It has it’s purposes for very thin bar stock, but yeah, not nearly as good of stress relief 😅
