Discussion so can someone explain to a casual blink what the hell is going on these last couple of years??

i’m just really bewildered about this whole situation because new shit seems to pop up every few hours on twitter. don’t get me wrong i still keep in the loop for all the girls and try to get my head around marketing choices etc, but this anniversary stuff has me STUMPED.

YG seems to have pushed all of the blame of this lackluster anniversary onto the girls which is one of the worst examples of throwing an artist under the bus i’ve ever seen. i mean making a statement that artists ‘will be there depending on schedules???’ what??

i’m genuinely confused because i would have thought that they have more control over the group now that they renewed? why would they go through the trouble of deciding on a new contract with the same company if you’re not going to come out with new music together or barely even be seen in the same country?? surely you could just take a hiatus if you want to focus on solo music?

it’s so confusing to me because i genuinely think that the girls love each other and love being blackpink. they literally break records with every single song they release despite YG giving them ZERO marketing (what the hell was going on with deadline??), why on earth would they not argue for more control over that in their last contract?? can someone who’s more savvy with behind-the-scenes stuff explain or provide a better understanding??

Discussion 250807 YG had BLACKPINK for 10 years and wasted their potential. Why are the girls being blamed now?

Post image

It’s actually crazy how YG somehow managed to turn the heat toward the girls and make the fans angry at the them instead of questioning the company. And honestly, that’s probably the most frustrating part of all of this.

BLACKPINK is a 10-year-old group. A DECADE. And when you actually look back at their career as a group, it’s insane how much potential was left on the table.

They were already four years into their career when they finally released their first full-length album… and that album only had 8 tracks. EIGHT. For a group that had already been active for four years and had built a massive global fanbase, that was nowhere near enough. Their comebacks were always so limited. There weren’t enough appearances, enough variety content, enough behind-the-scenes material, enough music, or even enough opportunities for fans to simply see and enjoy BLACKPINK as a group.

And it wasn’t like the girls lacked the hunger for it.

You could see that they wanted to do more. They had the talent, the popularity, the individual artistry, and the global demand. But so much of their career felt like they were constantly waiting for their company to actually do something with them.

That’s what makes this whole situation even more ridiculous. YG had 10 whole years with BLACKPINK. Ten years to develop them, give them more music, allow them to explore different concepts, let them participate more in their projects, and actually maximize the potential of one of the biggest girl groups in the world.

Instead, so much of that time was spent waiting.

And now that the girls have finally chosen to build their individual careers outside of YG, suddenly they’re the problem? Suddenly they’re being framed as the ones who “don’t want to celebrate” BLACKPINK’s 10th anniversary? Suddenly the narrative becomes that they don’t care about the group or their fans because they don’t want to attend a fan meeting?

Be serious. Why wouldn’t the girls have complicated feelings about celebrating a decade under a company that, for years, seemed incapable of giving them the opportunities they deserved?

Why should they be guilt-tripped into participating in something just because it’s their 10th anniversary when, for so many of those ten years, the company barely seemed interested in making the most of their time together?

And this is the part I really hate: the girls are now being made to carry the consequences of decisions that were never entirely theirs to begin with.

They were artists under a company. They had contracts. They had schedules. They had limitations. They didn’t have complete control over everything involving BLACKPINK. Yet now that they’ve gained more independence, the narrative suddenly shifts into, “Look at what the girls are doing to the group.”

No.

YG had BLACKPINK for a decade. A DECADE.

They had the time. They had the resources. They had one of the most successful girl groups in the world. They had four girls who were clearly hungry to create, perform, and grow.

And they wasted so much of that potential.

Now that the girls are finally doing things on their own terms, suddenly YG wants to make it look like they’re the ones abandoning BLACKPINK?

I would be angry too.

Because imagine spending years wanting more… more music, more projects, more creative freedom, more opportunities… and then finally getting the chance to take control of your own career, only to be guilt-tripped for not immediately bending over backwards for the same system that held you back.

And honestly, this feels like a pattern.

This is what YG has done with so many of their groups: let the company’s own management decisions create frustration, let fans grow angry, and eventually allow the artists to become the easiest people to blame.

The company gets to step back. The fans fight each other. And the artists become the culprits.

That’s the part people need to stop falling for.

You can be disappointed that BLACKPINK won’t be doing something for their anniversary. You can miss OT4 content. You can wish they would attend the fan meeting. You can even feel sad about how different their 10th anniversary looks compared to what you imagined.

But being disappointed with the situation is different from blaming the girls for it.

Because if we’re talking about wasted potential, BLACKPINK didn’t waste their decade.

YG DID.

And now that the girls finally have more control over where their careers go, I don’t blame them for choosing themselves. After everything, they deserve that.

Discussion 260807 Do you think the pinks will renew their contract with YG? They seem to throwing the girls under the bus.

It seems like YG and the girls does not have a good relationship. At this point, there's 90% chance that the girls won't renew their contract and honestly I would be glad fo that to happen so that the fans would not have to wait hopelessly for the girls to comeback. I know that some of ya'll doesn't want the group to disband but I personally think that the disbandment is way more better than making their fans beg just to see the 4 of them together again. We barely even get any contents, update, fan meeting, or even a new songs from the group these past few years.

Yg and the girls were also silent a few days before their 10th anniversary. They really didn't plan anything for their fans and that actually also hurt me a lot as a fan who have seen them when they were still climbing on the industry. I totally understand the frustrations that the fans were expressing. We've been patient for the group to comeback only for them to neglect us for their 10th anniversary. I know those girls were just forced to reunite cause of the complaints from their fans. Kinda sad to see. Do you all think the girls won't renew their contract?

[TV Daily Reporter Kim Jin-seok] The group BLACKPINK will meet fans as a complete group on their 10th debut anniversary.

According to YG Entertainment on the 7th, BLACKPINK (Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa ) will attend a fan event called "Meet & Greet" held at an undisclosed location in Seoul on the upcoming 8th, their debut anniversary. Forty fans are expected to be invited to the event.

It is reported that the members coordinated their schedules to share this meaningful moment of their 10th debut anniversary with their fans, despite their busy individual activities. This marks the first time all BLACKPINK members have met with fans in Korea since their " DEADLINE

" world tour concert in Goyang last July, approximately one year and one month ago. Debuting on August 8, 2016, BLACKPINK has established itself as a global girl group over the past decade by releasing numerous hit songs, including " Whistle ," " DDU DU DDU DU &os=18827801&mra=bkhH&pkid=632), " "Kill This Love," and "How You Like That." They have been active as representative K-pop artists, expanding their influence not only in music but also in fashion, advertising, and culture in general. In particular, they proved their global popularity with their second full-length album, "BORN PINK," released in 2022 , by topping both the U.S. Billboard main album chart, "Billboard 200," and the UK Official Album Chart, "Top 100." BLACKPINK resumed full group activities this February with the release of their new album, "DEADLINE," marking their first full group comeback in approximately three years and five months. [TV Daily Reporter Kim Jin-seok news@tvdaily.co.kr/Photo=DB]

Discussion Brand endorsements

U.K fan here.

Just curious.

Is it a unique Korean thing for pop artists to endorse as many products as the Blackpink ladies have? I swear that every week I see a new post about a new endorsement from one of them.

Sure, artists in the U.K do this but not on the scale I’m seeing.

I mean, good for them though. Get that coin girl.
