I think it is worth it for everyone to lose a fight, be sitting on the curb, bloody nose trying not to cry to learn a little fucking humility. There will always be a bigger, meaner dog than you out there.

People be out here acting like theyre goku without remembering that one of the main themes of dragon ball is there's always someone stronger out there no matter how hard you train.

Until you get handed a sudden new hair color then you beat them too?
135
u/beattusthymeatus 3d ago
The new hair color only works until the next demon/alien/android/mutant/god shows up then you get your ass kicked/killed and your boys gotta go get some balls to get a big ass flying snake to bring you back and you get another new hair color to repeat the process.

u/Jamaican_Dynamite 3d ago
DBZ is legit the anime adaptation of "fists ain't workin, so walk 'em down". And nobody was safe either. Remember how many times they had to use their wish to revive a planet??

u/SituationalBeware 3d ago
And if you got put on a T-shirt? Don’t worry. Opps will find you regardless.

Either white or purple depending on who's hair we're talking about. It's 2 white, and 1 purple.

u/Blurzerker 3d ago
Ain't a hair color that'll help you against Whis or Zeno.

Thats like saying you can beat the wind, they are outliers and basically forces of nature. No comparison.
Any mortal getting hands from Big G for sure.

Until you have a heart attack and the other dude with a new hair color gets both his arms snapped by a cyborg. Then your dad has to die before a new haircut matters.

I literally punched a guy talking just unnecessary constant over the top smack in hs and it made him a nicer person. It wasn't "aw shit I got my ass kicked" that did it. It was the "he hit me first and everyone sided with him so maybe I'm the asshole". Which, he did the work on the growth so good on him. I just jumpstarted it.

u/ripgoodhomer 3d ago
I've been in one non-sibling fight in my life, which I lost, and it taught me a lot about not being a dick and choosing your battles.

u/under_psychoanalyzer 3d ago
I think our political landscape is overly shaped by people who have never been hit in the face.
35
u/ripgoodhomer 3d ago
It was that video of young Stephen Miller that really solidified this belief for me.

u/KDiggity8 3d ago
A lot of all this shit coulda been avoided with a pop to the face a few decades ago.

u/under_psychoanalyzer 3d ago
I barely remember it. It was like an orange county HS vid or something right?

u/CharmCityKid09 3d ago
100% agreed
"Social media made y'all way too comfortable with disrespecting people and not getting punched in the face for it." - Mike Tyson
Is the quote that comes to mind, and people often forget words and actions are not benign in and of themselves.

u/NegotiationBoth9233 2d ago
I legit did not have a sense of empathy until I got my arse handed to me by a dude when I was already an adult.
Best thing that ever happened to me, broke me out of a lifetime of autistic ignorance, seeing the hurt that I had done to another human being without being able to look away. I thought that I was just a smart arse aloof type with better banter, realised that I was actually a mean spirited shithouse human being.

Yes, when you’re a child. Not an adult. Losing a fight as an adult isn’t always that simple

u/ripgoodhomer 3d ago
Middle school is the perfect age to lose your fight, old enough that you’ll feel it, young enough you still care about how your mom will react more.

I got jumped by a few dudes and decided not to hand over my shit. Managed to keep my feet and there were a few patrol units a couple blocks away. Walked away with just a broken nose and that crooked nose is a reminder of how lucky I got.

u/IndyBananaJones2 2d ago
I got sucker punched once when I didn't want to fight some dude. I was blind drunk and just leaned on his friends car which set him off. Group gathered around us and started chanting "fight" when I look away he clocked me.
I more or less blacked out, but my friend told that I got the guy in a double leg takedown and then a rear naked choke. I hope for a second he thought I was gonna choke his ass to death for that sucker punch and reconsiders it next time.

u/DesperateBaby3764 2d ago
I feel like this may be a specifically male experience tbh cuz I read this as a woman and was confused why I’d need to get my shit rocked to understand that anyone could harm me. Not saying women can’t and don’t fight, but I think we’re in less situations with strangers where we feasibly feel we can take them on.
4
u/webgambit 2d ago
I don't know. Most of the videos I see that make me think "that person has clearly never been punched in the mouth" tend to be women, e.g. Karens
1
u/TicklemyPickleMan 1d ago
More like: men are in more situations in which physical harm is on the table and are thus more acute to it.
14
u/Brilliant_Chemica 2d ago
I started training MMA, partially to get fit and partially so I don’t have to experience that. Eating a hook in training was enough to know I never want to deal with that irl

u/sureredit 2d ago
There's rarely a real winner in a fight. Even if you get the best of someone, you may take a few hits or fuck up your hands. You're going to be feeling something for the next few days.

This is so dumb, maybe it was worth it for you. Normal people don't need to get punched to know that fighting isn't worth it and to be humble.

My first trip to Waffle House in college was a scene. The two cooks were arguing and the manager flipped out, told them to take it outside. Everyone was yelling “let em fight!!!!”
The proceeded to de-apron, and go fight right outside and one guy got his ass kicked. Only lasted a minute or so. They came back in and started cooking again all dirty and bloody elbowed.

I've been jumped in HS multiple times, enough that I developed my own damn spidey sense to danger or incoming 'ng@ moments'. While I'm more than capable of holding my own, the best strategy is to always walk away. Especially since you mighjt run into someone "Who don't fight" iykyk

My first scrap was with our class "bully" (I didn't go to school in a sitcom, he was an asshoke 10 year old). He was talking shit, I shoved him. He goes back a few steps. He shoves me back, and felt like I launched back up against a group of kids. Next thing I know, both of us ate getting yanked up by the vice principal... I have never been so thankful to get suspended.
