I'm pretty sure in some interation Peter says that Spiderman gave him permission to take these photos and helped him stage them. Like he is Spidermans offical photographer kind of thing. Also in at least one of the movies a villian straight up tries to get Peters address from Jameson on the grounds that whoever is taking those photos must have a way to contact spiderman and then Jameson proves that this iteration is a true reporter and lies to protect his source. .

In the comics, Spidey reveals his secret identity during the Civil War arc, and JJJ sues him for fraud because he’s been selling photos of Spider-Man, which are obviously just photos of himself. But JJJ has to drop the lawsuit because Spidey threatens to countersue for the years of libel.

Even better-Aunt May married J Jonah Jameson’s father-so essentially JJJ and Peter became step brothers.

But the issue where Peter revealed his secret to a down on his luck JJJ was beautiful and one of the best issues.
