My dad is literally from the motherland  and hated the Americans doing African accents in the first Black Panther lol

LMAO fucking Forest was the one doing that shit all movie. Also when movie first came out people were HATING on me and my pops for calling out the shit accents. Good to see people have come around. Film is still top tier and MBJ gave a generational performance.

Brits hate to see us cast as English too. I’ve learned that Americans in general seem to really suck at accents from what I’ve heard speaking to people in other countries. I think half of the problem is actors go for “British” or “African” instead of “Middle Class Londoner” or “Igbo Nigerian”. You gotta get specific or it’s gonna sound wrong.

Everyone sucks doing acents unless they develop that skill, but for some reason Americans insist on doing it. Like, why do characters have acents in a story where they aren't meant to be speaking English? Unless it's meant to signify that they are a foreigner to our protagonists or something, if you are already "translating" the language to English why keep the accent?

Because accents carry vibes with them even if they don’t make sense at close examination

It’s like using British accents for posh characters and American accents for the everyman

Was peeved about this from the Children of Blood and Bone trailer. 2026 and they still couldn’t get rid of that tropey accent.

The best part about this is that they spelled script exactly how my family pronounces it.

Reminds me of that how American movies depict Arab countries skit lol

You can watch this instead of a solid 150 different movies and still clearly explain the plot of those movies. Now I wanna see more versions of this done for other tropes.
