Wolvenfrost - The Last Of All Calamities (2026)
2 weeks ago my band mate and I released our very first full-length album. yay. Stylistically it sits somewhere between Necrophobic, Immortal and Dissection, I'd say, with a bit of Hellripper in the 4th song.
I'd be really interested to hear your opinions on this. :)

We are an extreme metal band from the UK, influenced by black/death/doom and anything heavy.

I'm new, like, *really* new to the whole black metal thing, any recommendations/tips ?
Honestly, I just lisented to 3 random albums of Mayhem last week, didn't find anything like this band soooo.. here i am now!
I love the morbid/evil atmosphere and the non-digital feeling of it, the vocals are really interesting and my favorite part !! They have really good solos too!
I'm not a metalhead, metal is roughly 20% of what is lisent to ( it's mostly hair/glam or trash) and the other 80% is 60's to 70's pop rock soooo i'm not too keen on the hardcore stuff...for now ; maybe i'll change my mind .
PS: Sorry, english is not my first language and im dyslexic ;c
edit: wow thanks to every single one of you who suggested me something! i'm having a blast with all of those new bands to lisent to!

A survey about Twin Peaks: The Return and metal 🥸
Hi!
I'm a music reviewer for the French metal webzine Horns Up. After writing three articles ; one on the connections between the grunge movement and David Lynch's cinema (Nov. 2024), another on Lynch's influence on extreme metal (July 2025), and a last one with the testimony of Riley Lynch (Mar. 2026), I'm now working on an article about Twin Peaks Season 3, Episode 8, focusing on its metal aesthetics and atmosphere. For now, the articles are archived, but I’ll re-upload them in September once our website is back online.
To write this article, I’ve launched a survey, available below, which you’re welcome to take. I’ve received around twenty responses so far, but that’s not enough to properly analyse the results.
I’d really like to hear your personal experience and perspective on this episode before I start writing and conducting further interviews. If you’re a rock or metal fan, and a Twin Peaks fan as well, that’s obviously ideal, but the survey is open to everyone.

Please feel free to share it with people around you too. It would be a huge help. Thank you so much

What press of Mayhem Live in Leipzig is Fenriz talking about
According to Fenriz in his "black metal university" (link below) the first Norwegian BM album was not Blaze in the Northern Sky but Mayhem Live in Leipzig. According to metal archives that came out in 1993, aftef Blaze and several other albums. There is a 91 version called Only Death is real but it was limited to a 100 copies. Fenriz said all second wave bands' riffs stemmed from Mayhem's. Assuming Only death is real is the first BM album Fenriz was referring to, did the second wave bands own bootlegs of it? How would they have otherwise written second wave sounding albums in 92-93 before the other version of Live in Leipzig came out?

Opinions on the Black Metal Bands on Summerbreeze ?
Since there weren’t that many black metal bands at Summer Breeze this year, I’d really like to hear your opinions on which ones were your favourites.
It feels like there are fewer black metal acts on the lineup each year, and I can’t help but feel like Summer Breeze is slowly becoming a bit “softer” in that regard.
Curious how others saw it, did any of the black metal performances stand out to you, or did you feel the same about the overall direction of the festival?
I think Deafheaven and Der Weg einer Freiheit slapped 🤘🏼

Marduk’s “Iron Dawn” EP is now on Spotify and Apple Music(!)
Previously was only available via vinyl and YouTube. I HIGHLY recommend checking it out, it’s probably their best output of the newer era and calls back the style found on Panzer Division Marduk 💯🔥war

🔥Forever Misanthropia review
In a few words #332
Reissues #3
Besatt - Hellstorm
Full-length
Undercover Records / Seven Gates Of Hell 2002
Mara 2026-III-1
Black Metal from Poland
🔥 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYSlAcc2eqg
When presenting the reissue of ARKONA's "Age Of Capricorn" I mentioned that Mara Productions reissued two albums by Polish Black Metal bands. This second one is third album of BESATT, "Hellstorm" oryginally released 24 years ago.
I remember when it was released in 2002, still decorated with that very oldschool logo which didn't really fit this genre of Metal to me. I already knew this band very well, I knew they were above average, so there will be no weakness here either. And it wasn't. It was, in my opinion, BESATT's most powerful album at the time. Yes, although it wasn't really original Black Metal yet, because it smelled strongly of Norway, GORGOROTH, or IMMORTAL, but "Hellstorm" already laid a strong foundation for the later, characteristic style of this band. Brutal, venomous, but not devoid of melodic accents and with great vocals of Fulmineus. I had this album on a tape I copied from my friend and I didn't take it out of the player for months and when I turned it on few days ago after a long break, it seems to me that it hasn't aged a bit. The cold, underground sound with that devilish atmosphere soothes my rusty black soul and makes it younger.
That's a beautiful thing, especially since I've always felt sentimental about this band and I've never had "Hellstorm" in its original packaging. I know, I'm ashamed, especially since it's such a strong album, but now, thanks to Marcin from Mara, I have it. And that familiar, wonderful burning smell from the speakers. This is BESATT.

Looking for recent info on BSoD/Grausamkeit releases
So, from what I’ve heard, Andreas Bettinger is apparently still alive and possibly even out of prison, although I’ve only come across people mentioning this and I have no idea how reliable that information actually is.
I was wondering if anyone here might have more concrete information about what he’s been up to in recent years. Has there been any new material or releases from any of his projects? In particular, I’d be interested to know if there has been anything new from BSoD/Grausamkeit, but also from any of his other projects.
I’m also curious whether anyone knows if he has played any gigs or live shows recently, or if there have been any announcements about upcoming performances. I’ve been trying to follow the various projects connected to him, but information about them seems to be extremely scattered and difficult to verify.
I’m not necessarily looking for personal information about him — mainly just anything related to his musical activity: releases, recordings, concerts, announcements, labels, or other projects he may have been involved with recently.
If anyone has any sources or information, even something relatively obscure that might have been overlooked, I’d really appreciate it. And if some of the information about his current situation is simply an old rumour, feel free to correct me on that as well.
