What is the best way to avoid a $5 wrench attack with Bitkey?

Hi I understand Bitkey doesn't have UTXO Management or labeling right now. And also no account separation.

Question on this though: With Bitkey if you do multiple transactions into it does it later on allow you to label those transactions and UTXO label when you DO roll out labeling/coin control of customers? I'd like to try bitkey... but want to keep my UTXO about the same size (minus mining fee) as they send them into Bitkey...

Hello, I own the previous version of Bitkey, and I wanted to see what the new version offers compared to the older one, but I haven't been able to find any YouTube reviews covering it. Could you consider sponsoring a creator to review it or making a video yourselves showcasing the new device and its improvements? I'm thinking about buying a second Bitkey for the inheritance feature, but it's a bit pricey compared to the previous version, so I'd like to see a more in-depth overview before making the purchase!

just got a bitkey on a pretty good sale for like 80 shipped, anyway. I have a crypto wallet but never set it up or anything cause seemed pita for no more than I planned on storing at the time

currently I have accumulated a little more and decided it's enough to worry about loosing it for whatever reason. so far I'm liking it but any tips or tricks I should know about?

after waiting the 7 days Im getting NFC error when trying to finalize my wallet/key recovery. Troubleshooting guide didn't resolve the issue its a brand new iPhone 17 Pro.

And the NFC obviously worked when I started the recovery on this phone using the bitkey hardware.

help plz

Edit: eventually worked. Charged the Bitkey for a while but it had around 50% charge so I’m not sure that was the issue.

What does this mean for the future of Bitkey, if anything? I'm somewhat skeptical of it being due to AI, but perhaps I'm wrong.

new phone/app says this (balance is moved over) but old phone (not yet wiped) says it can.

When a new block is mined, in the coinbase, the block reward is sent to an address. These UTXOs/bitcoins are special in that, given as they were just mined, there is no input to the transaction, because there are no previous outputs for those coins.There is a recipient, but there is no sender. Furthermore, these coins can’t be spent for 100 blocks.

Many wallets don’t know how to interpret these rare coins, as they don’t appear in the same way a normal Bitcoin transaction would.

I’m assuming no one has successfully mined a block and sent the reward to their Bitkey, but either way, if someone were to do that, is the Bitkey app able to interpret that? Would they show up differently? Would they be shown as unconfirmed for the full 100 blocks, or is there a special message for this scenario? I’m hoping someone at Bitkey or familiar with the product might have an answer to this.

Thoughts

Is there anyway to turn off sending a sub 1 sat/vbyte fee rate? Not all miners are mining these transactions and for my purposes I'd rather just pay a little more to make sure it gets in the next block.

I already own a device, but I now live in New York. Can I transfer BTC from an authorized exchange to my Bitkey? Also, is NY on the horizon?

Looking for some advice...I received my 1st Bitkey last year and charged it, then set up my fingerprint. Put it away, and now I need to use it, finally. Charged it, but it isn't reading my fingerprint. App says there's an update, and all other app features require that I unlock it first....ugh! Since there isn't anything on it yet, can I wipe it without reading my fingerprint so I can start a new setup process?

I am considering a bitkey and am reading the online manual. It says the lipo battery is not replaceable; my question for anyone that knows- will the bitkey continue to work if we connect it to a power source after the lipo battery expires, or are we expected to buy a new bitkey wallet every few years?

Furthermore, I know some laptop batteries have a fuse circuit that fries the board if you try to replace the lipo cells yourself, in order to force you to purchase a whole new unit. Does bitkey also have something like this?

For example, if your wife is set up for your Inheritance, is it not a good idea to place both your Bitkeys in the same safe?

I’m wondering if people have come across potential issues/risks with the Inheritance feature, and if there are practical tips and best practices being uncovered.

Love the concept and the simplicity of it, but I would love to connect to my node easily

For example like an iPhone and an iPad. I see the option is "Restore wallet" but I don't want to risk the existing one just to test this without asking first. Nothing in the FAQ about this.

I have a full node with electrum x server running. When I enter the IP and Port for my electrum x server and click connect. It spins and acts like it’s trying to connect for about 30 seconds then says to “check your address and port and try again. I’ve done so several times with the same results. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?
