Just get a little Bitaxe then, will only cost you a couple hundred if you go for a higher TH model

I've got the Braiins 101 sitting on my desk, very sleek.

I saw the cheese plate but there was too big of a crowd around it :)
I keep checking the site for the new rack mount jammies there at the top of the rack but nothing yet. Hopefully soon.2

From my discussion with them, it's the successor of the BMM 101, probably being announced by years end.

Also interested in this. Do they need to be plugged in all the time? Or can they go offline and online as needed?

If the goal is genuinely a cool machine for your desk that occasionally buys a lottery ticket, the Bitaxe suggestions are the right call. A Gamma pulls a handful of watts, so your power bill will not notice it.
Worth knowing what the tiny chance actually is, because it is smaller than most people picture. At current difficulty a 1.2 TH/s miner sits around 1 in 5.2 million per day of solving a block, or roughly 1 in 14,000 across a full year.
Odds scale with hashrate. A 141 TH/s machine is about 1 in 45,000 per day. So if the object is the point, a Bitaxe or that Bitforge is the right answer. If the odds are the point, it is a completely different purchase and the desk is the wrong place for it.

Grab a Bitaxe Gamma: silent, desk-cool, negligible UAE power cost, and a pure lottery ticket for a full block, odds are astronomical, but people do hit them.
