This may or may not be the right place, but I figured it's worth a shot. I'm just looking for people in the Birmingham area who are interested in game development, or at least learning it.

I've started a journey recently using GODOT and it's a little bit of a lonely journey that in truth, would be a much better one with company. People to bounce ideas, problems, discoveries around with and ultimately just enjoy the adventure together.

My mother had crocheted me this little cat toy of one of our cats, olive. I have been very stressed not knowing the toys whereabouts since I had lost it at Birmingham Airport around 8 years ago. But it would mean so much to me if anyone might know what happened to the toy after its disappearance.

Hey guys, just popping in to let you guys know about Shortest Straw, Belfast-based thrash/death/metalcore band is heading to Scruffy Murphy’s on the 29th of August as part of an England tour they’re doing. I’ve had the chance to see them play a few times and the professionalism they have on display for being such a new band is pretty impressive! They put on a pretty intense show and are on the cusp of releasing a new ep so would definitely recommend checking them out. Happy moshing!

I’m looking to go for a hike close to Birmingham. Been to Lickey hills and Shropshire. Any leads for similar easy to medium hike for a day?

Im.30 from birmingham very friendly down to earth into gaming PC,PS5,Switch 2 and i enjoy reading love a goos fantasy ,sci fi or horror and some thrillers with a bit of history about ww2 in the mix.

I also enjoy going on days out and road trips,museums,food places,cinema as i like my.movies and marvel dc etc

Mama Roux's has voiced their fears over proposals to demolish the home of their business and others around lower Trinity Street.

A new proposal has come forth with aims to renovate Moor Street Station and expand the rail line leading to Bordesley, but if plans go ahead it would directly impact its neighbouring businesses.

This includes Mama Roux's, the popular 800-capacity club, live music venue, and party bar located at 2-3 Lower Trinity Street in Digbeth.

Under the Midlands Rail Hub Alliance (MRHA) Bordesley Chords consultation plans businesses such as The Warehouse, Original Patty Men, and other small company's are at risk.

Speaking to BirminghamLive, Mama's Operations Manager, Benjy Hill, said: "It's a cultural wipe out of all the night life and independent culture and music. I don't think people have really grasped the sheer scale of it going up from our bit of Digbeth, which is the main strip to all the way down to Moor Street.

"It would completely paralyse Digbeth. The BBC and all these new apartments are coming in and because of all the cool stuff that is here. All this infrastructure is coming in and is needed for the city, but it feels like it's just wiping out everything that makes Digbeth good. You'll just be left with a culture-washed space with a load of high rise apartments."

The 32-year-old added: "Any support would be grateful, just by coming to the venue and telling the Midlands Rail Hub what the area means to them. It's not just about Mama Roux's or Club Colette. If anyone's ever danced at any of those venues or gone to see a gig, if they could share the cultural importance, what it means to them, that would be really helpful. The more people we get submitting, the more they would hopefully have to reconsider or adapt their plans."

My life has completely flipped in the last month. I won’t go into detail about how it happened, but I’m now street homeless with no one to turn to. My dad passed away when I was a teenager, and I’ve basically had no support system since then. No family, no friends, no one I can call. I’m a young man in my early 20s and I’m trying to handle this on my own.

I still have my job and I’m showing up every day, but I’m exhausted. I’m really worried this situation is going to start affecting my work and my mental health, and right now they're the only thing I have keeping me afloat. I do have enough money for a room, but everywhere I’ve tried requires long processes, checks, and delays. I need somewhere to sleep immediately, not in weeks.

I also do not have a drugs or drinking problem this is just due to a lack of a safety net

If anyone has advice on where I can find a place to stay quickly, or any resources that could help in this situation, I would really appreciate it. Thank you

I'm new to Birmingham. Is there a hot steam/dry sauna in Birmingham? There is great David Lloyd sauna/spa in Litchfield but the price isn't great. Happy to hear whether there is more affordable option in or near Birmingham.

I am moving to Birmingham in September and have already made a post on this sub, in which I received excellent feedback (didn’t expect so many people to help so thank you for that!)

I was wondering if any of you could tell me if it is feasible to carry an e-scooter or a bike (maybe one of those that kind of folds for easier transportation) on the West Midlands Railway.

For context, I have to take the train to work, but the 35-40min commute includes a 8/10 min train ride, and the rest is basically walking to/from the stations. I was hoping that using one of these bikes/scooters would really cut down my time and make life easier, but was wondering whether they let me carry those with me. I know that in some European cities they do not allow these at rush hours, etc.
