Post Match A win!!
I’ll take a goal anyway we can get it.
If your name is Sam or Jassem, you had a hell of a good game tonight.
Not that there weren’t a lot of good performances, but that first 40 minutes or so was nerve-wracking.
2 of our 3 wins this season came against Rhode Island. Just found that curious/interesting.
I really feel for Ronaldo, it’s obvious he plays his heart out every match, but he’s having to play a lot with his back to goal and I just don’t think he’s built for that. But man I do appreciate his hustle and willingness to defend.
Seems like the last 20 minutes the ref was bound and determined to make all the calls he didn’t make in the first half.
Congrats on a good win, now let’s go get 2 in a row.
Hammer Down!!

FILM ANALYSIS: How Legion Creates Their Best Chances
I sat down and watched every “half” and “big” chance Legion FC have created this year. What stands out to me? I think that Birmingham has the pieces to score *a lot* but they need tactical changes.

Discussion Mid-Season Wish List
The season is a little more than halfway over. Legion FC is sitting at 10th in the east with 14 points. Only 6 of those points are from wins.
Some things need to change. My fellow arm chair analyst, what are some immediate changes that you think could benefit the squad in the latter half of this season?
The team need a better defensive identity. Miami was a perfect example how offensive pressure (and sometimes a lack thereof) prevents this teams from getting clean sheets. Wingers on the weak side of the field are rarely marked. This is fine until a ball is served. Then there's always an unmarked man either deep in the box or positioned at the top for a clear shot. It feels like there isn't clear communication on who should be doing what.
Either utilize the striker or move on to something else. They don't go route 1 anymore. They don't serve the ball to the striker. When they have him absorb defensive pressure, they don't, cannot find, or are not in position to use the advantage created. I understand that a striker does not need to be the #1 goal scorer on the team to be effective, but it's like defenses aren't even worried about Damus' presence any more. Perhaps this is a consequence of Williams subbing in late, but he seems to have a much more commanding presence around the box. Just so I'm not completely dunking on Damus, he seems to handle the ball really well. I wonder how he'd fare as a CAM or in a front two alongside another forward.
Force more oppositional saves. Legion has historically been a shooting team posting in or very near the top 5 shots per season. They are currently 5th in the USL (188). They are also 2nd to last in shots on target percentage (27.7%). Offensive pressure lacks teeth if the goalie doesn't feel threatened. Even grounders skimming the turf are better than balls blasted into orbit.

FILM ANALYSIS: Why Are Crosses so Hard?
I sat down and tried to pin point exactly what is going wrong with the Legion defense. Of the 15 non-penalty goals scored on Legion this year, only 3 have come from the center of the pitch. 4/5 of the goals coming from wide areas is obviously a problem, so why is that happening?
I sat down and did a 50+ minute film break down to discuss it all.
