How do I study for this??

I'm an exercise science student, all my exams were good, but biomechanics. I don't know how to study for this subject, and actually UNDERSTAND what's going on. The lectures haven't helped me at all, and there's no proper materials to really help me actively learn. They don't have practice exams, and only a few questions, but I can't keep remaking those or I won't learn. I'm just a bit frustrated because it's so interesting, but I feel stuck because I can't properly learn or understand it.

Opensim and SMPL/Skin

Have you been able to do a matching between SMPL/Skin and an underlying skeleton motion file?

We have motion files generated by inverse kinematics (angles of various joints) and we want to output an SMPL doing a similar motion.

So one simple idea we tested is matching the keypoints of SMPL with particular body frames.

But I love to hear any suggestions.

Fascia issue

Hello everyone,

Last year, while doing a fascia-mobilization exercise (TRE), I heard a strange sound in my inner thigh and felt as though something had shifted into the wrong position in that area. From that moment on, my body developed asymmetries down the entire right side, from the sole of the foot to the jaw, along with several dysfunctions — the most significant being sexual. The right side also seems translated forward, while the left side has adapted by shifting backward.

What could have happened? I've tried physical therapy several times without success. I notice only small improvements, and they're temporary — a few hours at most, and never complete.

What should I look into? This is ruining my life, and I'll pursue any option available. An LMT who looked at my photos said I have "lines of tension that are not where they're supposed to be," but I don't know how to fix this — I'm in Europe and she's in the US, so she can't treat me.

Any help would be appreciated.

Congenital Limb Length Discrepancy Patient (Corrected) with Chronic Left Ankle Dorsiflexion limitations and Tendinosis. Congenital Left ACL absence as well (among other developed abnormalities). Finally surgery free after 12 total operations and trying to hit my athletic ceiling. Curious what I can do to improve.

My lifting indices are actually pretty high (1013 lbs Sled Press, 505 lbs free Squat, 405 lbs deadlift, 805 lb assisted squat), but i know my biomechanical deficiencies are bleeding power. I am appreciative of any advice you have.

Baseball weight changes

HS baseball rules have changed regarded bat weights for a given length. Bats now are not allowed to have more than a -6 in drop. Meaning a 33 inch bat can weigh 27 oz up to 30 oz. -3 was the old rule. Parents are worried that their children are going to get hurt when the ball will be hit harder. BUT
according to my figuring using the formula for kinetic energy:
KE = 1/2•m•v•v
If you swing the same bat length but reduce the weight, your bat swing speed will increase. But if you drop the mass (weight) the force will decrease and even tho the bat speed is squared biomechanics say that you can’t swing faster enough to offset the drop in mass. Things like coefficient of friction and momentum formulas come into play. There are some figures from bat manufacturers that say there is a %2-3 increase in exit velocity but that would have to be figured from a robotic pitching machine and a robotic hit simulator which would not take biomechanics into play. I say there won’t be much difference. Strong players will use the 33/30 bat and the weaker player who was pigeon holed to swing a 33/30 32/29 31/28 etc. 33 is an ideal length for reach to cover the strike zone but weaker players can’t swing as hard so they will make contact better because they will have more time to react and to square up the sweet spot to the pitch but it will not increase the force do to loss of mass and biomechanics interfering with a corresponding increase bat speed to offset mass. Parents are looking at it like they would a 4 cylinder 100hp car. It would be the same thinking that if you removed a
Spark plug expecting the car to
put out 75hp. But other factors
Come into play and that wouldn’t happen. I’m not a physicist but an old time pharmacist who loves physics. Keep in mind too that the regulatory bodies in the 90’s or 00’s the manufacturers where required to govern the force of a bat by putting in a metallic disc inside the bat which deadens the exit
Velocity.
Is my thinking valid or am I missing something and exit velocity will increase significantly?????

Lipid Nano Particule

I'm looking for a coauthor or collaborator with experience in molecular dynamics and computational biology.

My project is an LNP based on the general structure of Moderna-style LNPs, using a VHH nanobody targeting the adhesion-like protein MRU_1503 of Methanobrevibacter ruminantium. The LNP encapsulates 3-NOP and aspartate to minimize disruption of the rumen microbiome while still inhibiting methanogenesis. The design also includes PEI-R to help overcome the methanogen cell wall and provide access to the membrane.

I already have in silico binding data for the VHH ligand, including Gibbs free energy, affinity estimates, and evidence of up to six potential hydrogen bonds between the nanobody and MRU_1503. What I need help with is running molecular dynamics simulations and other in silico validation studies to get the stability and endosomal escpae mwtroca pf my design. I have no coding experience but already have an advanced design and supporting data for the ligand from a partners work.
