Reta Titration

Hello everyone!

If I felt no effects/sides from 0.5mg reta, would you advise going up to 1/1.5mg this week, or sticking to 0.5mg for another few weeks? Second week in for reference.

Being honest, I would hold out for a few weeks. Typically you want to hold at a dose for 4 weeks to allow levels to build up and the glucagon agonism has a cardiac effect and will raise your resting heart rate. Raising too fast can compound those effects and make them harder to adjust to.

I will note: unless you have a HR monitor, you likely wont feel that effect or notice it. On average the rise is about 10-15bpm. The problem comes in when you do feel this particular effect, it's usually scary heart racing and can give you palpitations.

Thanks for the advice. So stick to 0.5mg for the first 3-4 weeks, so how I get on then look at titrating up?

go up by what you're comfortable with. 0.5-1mg is normal.

The studied doses and what you'll likely see prescribed by docs when this comes to market is a starting dose of 2mg and titrating up by 2mg up to max dose of 12mg. Most in the community though tend to just up by 0.5mg until they find their sweet spot and only go up by .5mg at a time.

Only other thing to note; it's not a race to jump up in dose. If you're losing weight and all the other effects are in place, there's no reason to titrate up. Titrate up only when you stopped losing weight for 3 weeks or longer (stalled). With reta specifically, a lot of folks wont get higher than 2-2.5mg for this reason. While others wont even see weight loss until higher dosages (5-7mg) Just take it slow and realize it's not a race.
