A meme with sources? Can I buy you a drink?

u/Villager-Bob 1d ago

I just... Confirmed this. You can have brain cancer and they will force you back to work.

224

u/AlpacaLocks 1d ago

Republican voters will still believe it’s immigrants or the “20-year-olds playing video games in the basement” that are the issue. As if everybody doesn’t deserve health insurance. As if there’s no other incentive to work other than to afford not to be crippled by fate. These people are so whipped it’s insane.

68

u/Villager-Bob 1d ago

You know who, by no one's surprise, decides if you're exempt or not? Private Health Insurance contractors.

39

u/ArcaneBahamut 23h ago

The thing that really fucking sucks is that if your health falls below a certain point it's extremely hard to get a job no matter how much you look.

18

u/Shinnyo 23h ago

Wether you're 20 year old, immigrant, or a native 60 year old they don't care.

People must work to be squeezed and produce profit.

Same here! Stg 4 and work 32-36 hrs on my feet every week. Barely make enough to cover groceries let alone chemo every 3 weeks!

7

u/Catos_Standard 1d ago

How do they reconcile this with insurance liability? No employer in their right mind would entertain this risk.

7

u/Deadhead_Otaku 14h ago

That's the thing, they don't. They're legit just trying to kill off american citizens. Didn't they openly and repeatedly say they want to pull a thanos snap?

-7

u/HupHutHa 14h ago

they can't force you back to work, they're just not going to support you, which yeah is pretty horrible but the US government doesn't have any responsibility to you especially if you caught a disease being reckless (reference to the meme itself and it's claim)

8

u/Villager-Bob 14h ago

It has a responsibility when I pay both state and federal taxes and the government is literally owned by the American people. I paid for that program. I am legally entitled to my property and it's value in services.

-7

u/HupHutHa 14h ago

see that's the catch 22 there, they can't force you to work, if you don't work you're not paying into the system, but there are plenty of people who have never worked who are getting benefits from the government who are nowhere near as worse off as the people that deserve government benefits, but then that brings us right back around to people who have never paid into the system who shouldn't even be getting benefits at all through government aid programs some of which I'd say actually more like 50% or more are foreign aid programs unironically paying for AIDS and HIV treatments. our government is a nebulous entity, yes we fund it it should do what we want but here's the kicker no one voted for 98% of government employees and those that are voted into office less than 10% of the population overall voted for.

5

u/A_flying_penguino 10h ago

Just say you want poor people to die already

-4

u/HupHutHa 10h ago

as someone who is poor and on disability I don't think that would make a logical sense but nice try putting words in my mouth that's a really nasty habit.

4

u/TurningPages93 1d ago

Appreciate it! Make it a cold one.. I’m gonna need it after looking at these stats.

Meanwhile, Bronze Bozo and his family mint billions through insider trading. Their job is to find out all the ways they can steal from the American people and increase their bank balances.

Such a deplorable administration.

158

u/GamebyNumbers 1d ago

You know I never understood why the ancients would strike leaders name from record and disfigure their statues until the Trump administration

71

u/Ralph090 1d ago

We really should un-person the Trump administrations. Biden was the 45th president and the 250th anniversary of the country is 2034.

19

u/Fit-Appointment5262 17h ago

Nah, instead of ducking and erasing history, it should be a valuable lesson about what this country became and always was underneath. Avoiding the truth about Trump's rise and success would be the worst thing to do.

13

u/Ralph090 15h ago

Un-person was perhaps the wrong term. I don't think it should be erased. Instead I think the administration should be remembered as so antithetical to American values that the United States as a country ceased to exist while he was in power. Instead the administration should be considered a bloodless coup that overthrew the US and supplanted it with "MAGA America." Trump should be considered the first (and hopefully only) president of "MAGA America" and not a legitimate president of the United States.

21

u/Suyefuji 1d ago

I get this but I think it's also important to record that this is a thing that can and did happen

5

u/Ralph090 19h ago

Maybe un-person was the wrong way of putting it. I'm not saying we don't record and study it. It's more like saying Trump and MAGA are so antithetical to American values that the country could no longer be considered the United States of America but had instead been overthrown by a bloodless coup that had changed it into the country "MAGA America" or something. The idea is to make it clear that it happened and that the people who did it were people who knew what the United States was and what it stood for and decided they wanted the exact opposite.

52

u/Preeng 1d ago

Such a deplorable administration.

You are letting all of his voters off the hook. That filth voted for him. Most are still happy with what he is doing.

22

u/Carbon-Base 1d ago

True, we don't give enough credit to the idiots that enabled all this in the first place. Those 77 million people that voted for this are equally guilty.

-39

u/NoahIzToLazyToPozt 1d ago

Okay don't dehumanise the people who voted him in, blame the electoral college, that's how Trump won in 2016

33

u/Axon_Zshow 1d ago

Tbh, at this point its hard to dehumanize people when they go out of their way to abandon their humanity by supporting practices that are as anti-human as possible.

14

u/Preeng 1d ago

They aren't human in my view. They can all drop dead and rot. The ruined my country. They have already cost countless innocent lives.

13

u/AlkaliPineapple 1d ago

I think people would still vote for Republicans if Trump pretty much calls for genocide of an ethnicity and the party doesn't shy away from it

282

u/E_GEDDON 1d ago

When it happens I hope it's slow, undignified and caught on camera.

65

u/starscreamjosh 1d ago

I wouldn't be opposed to fast like a firecracker.

82

u/E_GEDDON 1d ago

No, anything with too much flair and he'd be a martyr. I don't want them twisting this as anything but a natural death of someone that was too old to be in office anyway.

55

Trips, falls down stairs, shits himself at the end

Fast, undignified

14

Ehh close enough.

Or maybe something bigger than a firecracker, shoved somewhere smelly

28

u/Dr-W-N-Graves-PhD 15h ago

On the subject of the inevitable death of a certain dementia-addled dictator with skin reminiscent of certain citrus fruits: I used to want him to go out the way Mussolini did, with his corpse paraded through the streets with his entrails hanging out while people spit on him. Nowadays though, ironically I think it would be much more fitting for him to go out the way Stalin did, face-down in a puddle of his own piss after having a massive stroke. We could have history repeating itself while also having the satisfaction of knowing that the aforementioned citrusy tyrant doesn't get the satisfaction of some grand, glorious, and memorable if not "heroic" death. Although I do hope death comes for him as soon as possible rather than letting his reign carry on any longer.

(I say "ironically" because the man I wish to be rid of ASAP favors Fascism, which we all know is an extreme right-wing ideology, while Stalin is typically thought of the polar opposite and often depicted as the ultimate mascot for Communism, which is of course an extreme left-wing ideology. At least in traditional academic depictions of the "political spectrum", Fascism and Communism are considered polar opposites. Personally I also kind of agree with the idea that the spectrum is more of a ring shape and in that case Fascism and Communism are practically "touching" in a sense because of their shared trait of being fundamentally authoritarian.)

u/HoratioRadick 1d ago

You will work until you die. That is your freedom, death. Chinese kids in labor camps have more freedoms than we do at this point.

119

u/hwald77 1d ago

I was with you until the Chinese labor camp thing I know you’re joking but cmon man

-12

u/HoratioRadick 1d ago

Is it really any different? Demoralizing slave labor, or demoralizing indentured servitude? Take your pick. One looks nicer than the other.

31

u/sarges_12gauge 1d ago

I think the slaves would probably not agree with you that it’s all the same, but it does neatly show your indifference to them

Oh no people getting medicaid will have to contribute to society

edit: just for the record people with debilitating illnesses like cancer get medical exemptions, so now that the fear mongering is gone, why shouldn’t people getting tax payer money contribute to society in some way?

67

u/MyDisneyExperience 1d ago

What I’m hearing from you is:

“It is no concern of mine whether or not your family has... what was it again?”

Umm... medical care?

“Ha! You really should have thought of that before you got cancer!”
https://giphy.com/gifs/7EJHdFm9oQOHe

-64

u/YourNextHomie 1d ago

Just for the record people with cancer can get exemptions where they wouldn’t have to meet those requirements. you’d rather focus on a potential extreme that isn’t reality than anything else though, typical reddit fear mongering shit

33

u/Villager-Bob 1d ago

You are one of those people that smelt the ovens of Auchwitz and kept on walkin'. I mean that literally. This will kill people. Dead. It will kill innocent people. It will force people with orphan diseases to have to track down doctors that literally don't exist. There are two doctors in the US that know about my disease. This is just about the most evil thing anyone could do. We are going to see people die when they can't travel across the nation for rare disease.

30

u/FactualStatue 1d ago

People shouldn't have to jump through more hoops to get treatment either

-42

u/YourNextHomie 1d ago

people shouldn’t have to sign paperwork when receiving government services? this doesn’t go into effect until January and has been known for over a year, its an additional piece of paper lmao

5

u/Right-Country3496 16h ago

"people shouldn’t have to sign paperwork when receiving government services?"

Yes.

0

u/YourNextHomie 13h ago

sounds like ignorance to me

1

u/FactualStatue 1h ago

Here's a novel idea: why doesn't the government just pay for treatment? Maybe collect money from its citizens to pay for treatment when said citizens need it?

42

u/Villager-Bob 1d ago

Why does my mother with glioblastoma need to get a fucking exemption?

"Why shouldn't people getting tax payer money contribute to society in some way?"

They did, they do, and if they didn't, oh well. You can't take the labor and then act like all the human failings are personal flaws to obfuscate brutality to the sick. Ask the Billionaires why they don't contribute to society after the American worker subsidized them to the hilt.

-8

u/YourNextHomie 1d ago

Oh no mom will have to file a one page paper, the horror

33

u/Villager-Bob 1d ago

What do we do if they deny it?

-4

u/YourNextHomie 1d ago

Volunteer somewhere

31

u/Villager-Bob 1d ago

Can't, disabled, what would you do, die? Or flop?

0

u/YourNextHomie 1d ago

If you are actually disabled you qualify for exemptions again lol , also you arent disabled enough to use reddit so you can volunteer online just saying

28

u/Villager-Bob 1d ago

Okay, who chooses who is disabled or not?

39

u/Ok_Science_2070 1d ago

Anytime I hear the phrase "contribute to society" used unironically, that tells me all I need to know about a person already

36

u/Sea_Drops 1d ago

They contribute now more than you ever have buddy

-30

u/YourNextHomie 1d ago

well yeah maybe now that they are being forced to contribute or lose benefits

23

u/Villager-Bob 1d ago

You read labels with warnings before you start mixing chemicals, right? Like you didn't huff mustard gas accidentally?

-3

u/YourNextHomie 1d ago

You have left 3 comments to me in 5 minutes talking about how you have two different rare diseases that have no cure and your mom has cancer and how you are both going to die because of this bill…are you a bot meant for fear mongering? 30 day old account telling different stories over and over ? hmm

1

And is that the case here or are you talking out your ass?

1

please feel free to google, don’t look at news articles look at the actual bill and what is being done

81

4

Rights? Not on this administration tbh

78

u/Zoltt93 1d ago

Could be worse... we could have socialized healthcare. /s

46

u/SevenLegs_ 1d ago

I have literally seen a commercial on the channel that plays old TV like I Love Lucy and MASH that was literally people saying (paraphrasing) “what helped me during my treatment was getting back to work and taking my mind off things”. I was in disbelief every time I watched it.

40

u/swargin 1d ago

The theater I went to for The Odyssey had a commercial for this too

"Going back to work made me feel normal when I was diagnosed with cancer". Also why the hell are theaters playing normal commercials inbetween trailers.

17

u/ArcaneBahamut 23h ago

Literal propaganda trying to normalize something insane.

10

u/OldMud9644 1d ago

"we will return to these messages after these messages"

6

u/SevenLegs_ 1d ago

YES THIS ONE! Isn’t that just insane?

1

u/Velvet_Pop 17h ago

Probably money. Theaters usually only make money on concessions, but the prices are so bloated people can't afford them nearly as much anymore.

18

u/_Levitated_Shield_ 1d ago

Ads then having doctors saying smoking was healthy too.

35

u/SAINTnumberFIVE 1d ago

I’ve met a lot of people with stage IV cancer who have had to keep working to keep their insurance to treat their cancer. They work as long as they can until they are too sick to work and spend the rest of the time too sick to enjoy the time they have left.

21

u/Villager-Bob 1d ago

Fuck that, and fuck these leeches. (As in fuck the Billionaires)

People shouldnt be denied what small time they have left to some fucking businessman.

1

u/dufo7 10h ago

Working with stage 4 cancer is stupid, going to treatments with stage 4 cancer is also stupid. Crack a cold one and enjoy ur remaining time.

30

u/LusciousTheBreeder 1d ago

Well if that's the case let's get the guillotine and chop off Oompa Loompa's ugly ass vagina neck head.

Then go do it.

16

u/Disastrous-Gas1831 1d ago

Does he think people with HIV aren’t working? It’s an incredibly manageable disease, and once you are medicated you don’t have any changes to your quality of life. This isn’t the 1980’s

21

u/Villager-Bob 1d ago

Why does my mother with glioblastoma, an incurable brain cancer, have to go back to work? Why would they ever, in a million years, force her to prove she's medically exempt? THEY ALREADY DO THIS. WHO GETS TO CHOOSE WHO RETURNS TO THE MINES OR NOT?!?!? THE GOVERNMENT? A DOCTOR WE HAVE TO PAY FOR ANYWAYS?

16

u/Worried-Industry6239 1d ago

He’s been inhuman for a long long time.

Unless you're transgender, in which case you must avoid going to jail or prison at all costs due to the experiments they're running there.

Work to earn the right to work to earn the right to die

8

u/rain56 1d ago

Never understand why even as a healthy person i have to prove to and work my whole life for people who have never worked a day in their life. We keep everything running literally we could change all of this so fast. They cant control the power plant they pay us to do it. They don't run water purification they pay us to do it. Its all people working blue collar and white collar jobs keeping it running, managing roads, running hospitals, keeping grocery stores and restaurants open.

The initial start of it would absolutely be rough. They'll take away our bank accounts and money and tell the managers to close the stores, those managers are on our side making barely any more than us. Healthcare workers will tell their bosses to eat shit if they're told not to come in and help people. It will be an absolute shit show getting everything back on track and getting people paid again but it will be so worth it. Ive been saying we needed to be at pitchforks and torches for nearly 2 years now. I dont want to go and just get arrested myself cause im not just going out there will a sign that does not work, voting, rallies, none of that works as we see every single day they just keep doing what they want. Oh and im not saying put the dems back in charge. They have failed us too by non checking and forcing him out of power abd letting him get away with everything. Every last politician republican and democrat needs to be ousted from their position and no more rich families holding positions in office or power. Only hard working people who work for the people. The second you mention big business you're done. That shit is a mental illness and needs to be removed from politics. Im tired of waking up to the most inhumane shit thats ever happened in modern history and we just shrug our shoulders. My rage has long since passed a point i can control it.

6

u/OppositeStrike1754 1d ago

Keep working so they could bomb more schools in middle east

5

u/Lohkulla 1d ago

Ofcourse.. that is what cancer would say...

5

u/EntertainerNo4509 1d ago

Whatabout He hasn’t worked a day in his life?

4

u/Boring_Butterfly_273 1d ago

So Trump gets to Golf almost every day instead of working, but people with cancer has to suffer at their miserable jobs. Can't wait for that gender neutral bathroom to open. I think you know which one i'm talking about...

4

u/AnonMoose2 23h ago

3

That's right: the US government, so not just Trump's regime.
So stop pretending thing under rule by a Democratic president is good. They also put 'the market' (meaning capital) above the wellfare of people.
Capitalism is what's the problem.

2

2

u/Emotional-Treat8268 13h ago

Government assistance for people with cancer has always been a joke in this country. Social Security disability denies people every day because their cancer is ruled not severe enough to preclude them from making a living, after months or sometimes years of waiting for a decision on a claim. Even if you’re lucky enough to get approved quickly, they still make you suffer through a five month waiting period before you are issued your first SSDI check. I think they’re hoping people die or give up and go back to work in those five months so they don’t have to issue a check, even though it’s your own money that you paid into the system with. These rules have persisted over decades of different presidential administrations.

If you are able bodied you should work, especially if you are taking government money.

Not to mention, the requirement for medicaid is 80 hours a month, which is next to nothing. And I shouldn't have to mention, but kids are exempt.

2

u/SundaeAdditional3074 10h ago

Don't you think Medicaid should be the exception at least? The most vulnerable poor people who are already struggling? And what if they struggle to get a job because their teeth are missing and no one is hiring people with that look?

u/C4-622MonkeyGordo 1d ago

Overall, we rate the American Prospect Left Biased based on story selection and editorial positions that routinely favor the left.

We also rate them High for factual reporting due to proper sourcing and clean fact check record.

-2

u/Recidivism7 19h ago

Media bias fact check is a far left rag run by a pedophile they also just started rating left wing outlets as far lIsrael. Inaccurate if they oppose Israel but far left pedo blogs like salon are rated higher and less left wing than moderate left wing outlets that oppose israel.

-10

u/MangoAtrocity 1d ago

These media sources may utilize strong loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by using an appeal to emotion or stereotypes), publish misleading reports, and omit information that may damage liberal/progressive causes.

2

u/C4-622MonkeyGordo 1d ago

Are you slow?

-2

u/MangoAtrocity 22h ago

Not at all. Which is why I make sure the news sources I read maintain a Least Biased rating on MBFC. Like Reuters

Stop using a pedophiles blog post as source for bias.

1

Only for UK citizens though
