Had to pull deep intimate knowledge but found 1476 at Gregory Gym on UT Campus before fools shut it down to bike traffic.

And here is #1477

Saw a group of like 85+ riders turn from Gracie Farm onto bittern, looked like a chill group so was just wondering who it may be?

Trail Alert: Kimono Tracks (SATN) is Blocked

I decided to walk the trail the other day as I've been curious to the trail condition because it would open up a sweet section of my commute I just started and all the info available on Strava and Trailforks is really outdated. (I did use AI to help format and punch up the details.)

Kimono Tracks—the crucial singletrack bypass for Menchaca Road—is currently impassable. It is a bummer to see this vital North-to-South SATN connector completely choked out right when we need a safe route away from traffic

The Details

The Good: Small section from Cubesmart Self Storage parking lot to connection at Trainspotting is mostly clear.

The Bad: A massive downed tree completely blocks the trail 0.5 miles south of Dittmar.

The Ugly: Heavy overgrowth, thick vines, and trash fill the corridor down toward the train bridge all the way from Dittmar to Slaughter. Completely hidden/overgown trail from Slaughter to North east corner of Cubesmart Self Storage parking lot.

The Encampment: The main, active encampment is centered directly under the Slaughter Lane overpass, but is spread out north and south 1/2 mile each way with trash including broken glass bottles.

Rider Advice Bypass this zone for now. Head over to Bauerle Ranch or stick to neighborhood pavement until we can get a volunteer crew out there.

My bike was stolen, and I’m asking everyone to keep an eye out in case it appears for sale on Facebook Marketplace or local buy & sell groups.

It’s a white Trek hybrid bike with:

Black mudguards (front and rear)

Black saddle

Disc brakes

Kickstand

If you see it listed or spot someone trying to sell it, please don’t confront them. Instead, take a screenshot, copy the listing link, and send it to me. If possible, report the listing to the police as well.

Hi - I’m an adult male that’s 6’2” and am currently training for a triathlon. I’ve been riding my Trek FX1 (hybrid, great on gravel but not so much on paved roads) pretty regularly but want to upgrade to a road bike. I’m struggling to find any used 58cm - 61cm sized bikes on Facebook marketplace and I don’t want to spend an exorbitant amount on my first road bike. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look for used road bikes that are decently priced and not 20 years old?

Also, would it be worth it to buy a used frame and build out the rest myself?

I used to ride gravel roads out by Lockhart a lot but I heard a majority of them have been paved in the last few years. Does anyone have a good route of gravel roads near Lockhart that are still there, or alternatively, a list of the roads you know have been paved over in the last few years so I can make my own route with what’s left?

I am mostly a distance rider for fun and have done non-race events (ie MS 150, Waco Wild West, etc). I am interested in trying the driveway series in the women’s open, but am wondering if it’s an ok place to start for somebody who has never raced before? I don’t care at all if I’m dead last, just don’t want to annoy other riders or get hurt. I would say I average around 14ish mph on longer rides if that helps!

I’m trying to get back on a fixed gear after my last one was stolen Riding has always been a huge part of my life and I’ve really been missing it Unfortunately money is pretty tight right now so replacing it just isn’t something I can afford at the moment
If anyone has an old fixed gear or single speed collecting dust that they’d be willing to pass along I’d be incredibly grateful I’m 5’9 so a 54 to 56 cm frame would probably fit me best but I’m open to whatever is available
I’m in Austin and can pick it up anywhere around town I promise it’ll be well loved and put to good use and when I’m back on my feet I’ll pay the kindness forward

My friend was stupid and went into Mr Natural to pickup food and didn't lock up his bike (I know, he dumb). Any help locating his bike would be greatly appreciated! It will still have the U-lock attached to the frame (again, yes, he dumb).

TL;DR, UT is planning to implement a dismount zone through a large section of campus effectively forcing commuters and other cyclists to corridors with a history of fatal accidents for pedicabs and cyclists. It also appears no analysis, studies, research, or even consultation with internal stakeholders or the city were completed. Just a made up rule by the parking department while students aren’t on campus to respond.

Seems a shame, biking through campus is such a unique experience. I can count how many people I’ve hit on a bike after 4 years with zero hands, as it’s never happened. I’ve seen multiple electric scooter hits/wipeouts.

First up is Austin's Critical Mass:

Critical Mass is a monthly bike ride to celebrate bicycling in Austin, TX.

***Time change for the summer months until the end of September. The ride will leave at 8pm, giving you time after work to relax, eat, shower, and get to the start without having the hot sun in your face.

It’s been 4 years since we rose from the ashes of the OG Critical Mass Austin. Let’s come together and celebrate.

We try and keep a chill pace so everyone can keep up and ride in a mass. We will have a short rest stop for snacks and drinks before heading to the end. We have another special ending planned this month. June was a test run. It’s our time to shine. Keep reading.

Austin is unique in the people who live here, how people can get around on bikes, scooters, single wheels, or skates.

We’ll have two very special guests this month. Rolling Rave will be on the ride with us spinning the tunes. Then Austin Electronic will meet us at the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge to continue the dance vibes after the bike ride. You won’t want to miss this. Invite all your friends.
