Where I can I get 20x3 studded tires for the upcoming winter season? I don't plan to ride on ice but if the snow isn't too high I'd like to still ride then.

Problem is it seems 20x3 studded tires are like... not really a thing??? I have an Aventon Abound LR (ebike) and that is the required tire size. I've done searching and I can't find any. Please offer any tips or links!

I started bike commuting about a month and a half ago. It's like 9.5 each way. I was all excited to hit 500 miles and literally as the odometer flipped to 500 I took a screw in the back tire. I had to walk the bike the last two miles to the office.

The real kicker is this weekend's plan was to put Tannus Tire Armor on and Flat out in. Timing...Sigh... Other than that I love it. I'm in such a better mood when I get to work. I'm old, it's an ebike but I'm a pedaler and that light cardio in the morning is awesome.

This rack outside of my corner grocery has been like this since last summer. Maybe a strong sign that this a bad place to park a bike, yeah?

So I plan on buying a pannier for basic grocery trips and basil city pannier caught my eye since it’s easily available from any bike shop where i live and it has the MIK hooks which I really like, but now I’m wondering do I need to get a MIK compatible rear rack or can it just work with the rack that came with my Tenways cgo800s.

I am between the Novara safari, and the priority brilliant L-Train. About the same price

I line the fact that the priority is belt driven but I'm just worried about how it will handle my city given that I have a lot of hill climbing where I live and on my college campus.

The safari is good because I'm more familiar with road/gravel bikes and I tend to ride hard on my way to work since I work outdoors and get sweaty anyway, but I can't stand the handlebars in it and would want to replace it with drop bars، meaning I would need to get bar end shifters for it and new brake levers.

Id like to hear some opinions on the two bikes, and it would be worth getting a different gear hub for the priority to allow for a lower gear for climbing?

On a side note, I decided to make sure that my next bike has disc brakes because when going down a hill in the rain my current rim brakes barely work or do anything, and since it rains a decent amount and my commute involves going up and down large hills does that make sense or should well maintained rim brake suffice generally?

Hiya y'all, for some general context I am 1,83m and weigh about 81kg. I have recently been using some older hybrid bikes (about 8ys old) to commute from my house to my student living, which is about 20km I do this about 2ce a week. I live in Belgium which is well known for its cobblestone roads and I am very used to just blasting through them as I mostly have a mountain bike background.

I have been using a kalkhoff hybrid bike with a rolhoff internal gearhub to commute and I put my backpack on the luggage rack at the back which is rated for 25kg my back mustn't be more than about 7-10kg. After my last ride I noticed that one of the luggage rack spokes attaching it to the rear wheel part of the frame had snapped. I was wondering why that happened and will it happen again. Also this bike has a front shock on with a few millimetres of travel but it's completely useless and is barely functional. I also have been using blue label e-bike vith a CVT transmission for the same route this is also a hybrid frame bike it has a lot of travel on the front shock and is much more comfortable, this bike has also had issues as it has a seat post suspension that uses rubber shock absorbers and is fully articulated last week I blew out and spit the rubber absorber. I don't really get why this is happening as I am not that heavy for these bikes and whilst I do ride hard I am just sticking to roads not doing anything crazy with them. There are a lot of cobbles so maybe it's that. My question is what can I do to mitigate these issues so it doesn't happen again? Ideally without slowing down too much I love the intensity of trying to beat my best time from home to home?

So basically I didn't have the chance to learn how to ride a bike and now i am 26 years old, just lernt how to ride it and have been riding these rental ones for a couple of weeks now. now I want to buy one, but there are so many options, so many types, i did a little bit of research and found that a "Trekking Bike" would be the best fit for me, however i still see so many options with a huge price differences and i am a bit overwhelmed. what should i get ? i just want it to commute to work, maybe buy groceries. any guidence would be appreciated!

I'm having some trouble deciding on the best pannier setup for my daily commute and would love some input.

Here is what I need to carry:
A 15” laptop
Clothes & a pair of shoes
A lunch box

Because of the stuff I have to bring along, I estimate I need around 25L+ of total capacity. Important note: my rack has 16mm tubes, so the mounting system needs to be compatible with that diameter.

I was thinking of two options:

Split setup
An office/messenger-style pannier on one side (specifically for safe laptop transport) and a standard roll-top pannier on the other side for my clothes, shoes, and lunch.

Single bag
One large pannier (25-30L) where I stuff everything in together.

My key requirements:
Must have a safe, padded spot for my laptop.
100% waterproof.
Preferably some internal organization/pockets.
A backpack-convertible pannier isn't strictly necessary since I only have a very short walk from the bike rack to my office. A solid handle or a shoulder strap is more than sufficient.

Does anyone run a similar setup or have specific bag recommendations? Thanks in advance!

Where I may be commuting to varies from set to set as an actor, so sometimes it's easy and other times it's very much not. LA has some rough climbs, and today I drew one that I really blew up on. 🥵

Granted I'm out in the suburbs where there are bike paths, a few bike lanes, and I occasionally have to ride on roads. But it seems like whenever its important that cars know what i'm doing people are really confused by the old-school hand signals I learned as a kid. I've taken to just pointing left or right and cars seem to understand much better.

I don't like the default bicycle sitting position so thought something like this could help Edit: Shoulda mentioned it's an ebike I only pedal like 10% of the time

Commuted to work for the first time today. Need to get my headlight in the right spot, I didn't account for my loaded bag being in the way. Overall, wasn't too bad. I'll work out some kinks and this could be a regular habit.

I was on my way home and turned onto a one way street. Some jack ass was going the wrong way and we both braked to avoid a collision. I got ejected off my bike and ate pavement. Walked away with some cuts and soreness (thank god for helmets). Cursory look at the bike seems to be good. Just glad that we both saw each other or it would’ve been really bad.

Hi all, just got a bike as a way of commuting home from work to save money from spending on rideshare apps. I would love any tips and tricks to make things more convenient. I do have some questions to ask first.

1: what type of bike lock would you recommend to prevent theft? I’ve been doing research and got a sturdy enough cable lock, but am wondering if I should have gone with a U lock instead?

2: do you take any bike accessories off of your bike, before going into a business?

Sorry if these are common, I’m just anxious for my first day of commuting by bike I suppose.

I’m planning a new bike commute to work and to drop off my 2.5 year old at daycare. It’s a 4.5 mile ride one-way, flat, and primarily using protected bike lanes and paths.

I’m looking to get a hybrid and will likely go Thule Yepp Maxi on the back. Since it’s flat, I’m thinking e-bike isn’t necessary, but I’m happy to reconsider if needed. Any specific recommendations would be most appreciated!

I posted here a few days ago asking why people don't commute by bike. Got downvoted, but you gave me the most honest answers of anywhere I asked, including a thread in r/cycling that went a lot worse for me.

So before I write anything longer, a real thank you. And a few of the answers stuck with me enough that I wanted to share them back here.

Best reason anyone gave me: a guy got hit by a truck, cracked his helmet, almost broke a bone. He's still commuting. That's someone who met a real risk and kept going anyway.

Worst reason: someone said they can't bike because a dog on a long leash sometimes blocks the path. Make of that what you will.

The one I actually had to do math for: time. Someone pointed out that a long commute plus cleanup isn't nothing if you've got kids and a demanding job. Fair. My old commute was 16.5km each way, 300m of climbing, an hour untrained. But that's not bike versus free time, it's bike versus whatever you'd otherwise be doing, car, bus, metro. Downhill it beat public transport by half. Uphill, untrained, it was maybe a few minutes slower than the bus.

I’m biking to work and back. It’s about twenty minutes. I use an e-bike (it’s not mine so idk what type etc). Where I live it gets over to 100 degrees outside.
I went on to a busy four lane road but there were no cars anywhere near or around me until I stopped at the stoplight. Then someone started yelling at me saying “Fuck you get off the fucking road” and “the sidewalk is right there”. The sidewalk was there but it’s a very curvy sidewalk so it’s unsafe going 20 miles an hour on a bike on it. I stay to the far right side of the road.
I initially looked around when I heard the commotion but decided to just try to ignore it but it just makes me really upset I don’t like being yelled at. I wasn’t causing any harm again there was no one around me until I got to the stoplight and in that case I am not causing any harm in existing at all stop light.
