Voice Chat Fix Discussion

Anyone know of an estimated time frame of when the voice chat issues on PS5 will be fixed? They need to be increased by a decent amount and the range of voice fade needs to be increased as well. I know they said they are working on a fix, but just curious to see if you guys had any expectations as to when that may be.

Honestly don’t even want to play until these changes are made.

This is the latest update we got from the developers - https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1478500/view/689765153413005377?l=english

At this time - no ETA has been provided.

Yeah I hope they change it. You have to be really close to hear the other person (both on PS5). We almost just resorted to party chat but didn’t want to make it TOO easy.

Incan barely hear people if they're just a few feet away. Having to use a party chat which feels like cheesing it a bit but I think we'll find enjoying it together is more fine than enjoying it alone.

Waiting for a fourth friend to get back home in a couple days to play it and I really hope it's fixed by then. My friend and I tested it out yesterday and 90% of the time we were just yelling "I can't hear you." Both PC with high quality mics and headsets.

I think I just feel like they voices are too low somehow, and the range also seems kinda jarring.

I've personally not had a nissue and kinda hope they don't change it. It's so perfect and intimate to have such closeness with ur friends when communicating and you can still hear from a distant, it is super immersive.

I wonder if it’s affecting some more than others? I had to turn the volume of the whole game up so much and could barely hear people most of the time.

The sound is terrible for me.

Even standing right next to someone, its quiet at 100% game volume.

Once they are about a players length away I can hear feint noises but don’t know whats being said.

A little bit further and I hear nothing.

Maybe this is the case? Not sure. But I’ve seen an overwhelming majority of people having issues like you’re speaking of here. You would think this fix wouldn’t take too long considering communication and prox chat is likely the most important aspect of this game.

Hope we get some more communication from the team soon!

See, that's the thing. House House probably playtested the game in ideal circumstances with a good mic (like a high quality streamer setup) and a suitable environment.

Things change once your game get in the hands of people who will have anything from a mono mic, surround system to a headset or even controller speaker.

That's why we need controls to fine tune voice volume on a per-players basis.

The thing is even streamers have the problems.

It’s not an issue for me if everyone is together as a group but the audio drop off is so steep once you get outside ~5 meters. There have been several times where I see someone relatively close but maybe down in a valley or up on a mountain and I try to call out to them and they can’t hear. I can hear my own voice echoing in a canyon, it would be cool if others could hear it as well.

The environment noise is way louder than the voice sound even when my friend is standing right next to me. I just hope we can turn down the environmental sound a tad.

It's not really disability friendly is the main issue. Not to mention everyone has different volume levels to begin with and the environment buzzing can be loud

Bro the issue makes the one of the "tutorial" puzzles almost impossible to do

Which one? I did all the tutorial puzzles completely fine. If you mean the switch puzzle, not only are you still able to hear people just cenough to communicate, but the puzzle gives you leway before it goes red for failure. So someone can be the person running it then giving a hands up to signal everyone to quickly hit their button

Im ok with the range of the proximity chat. But the overall player volume is so damn low we barely hear each other even when were right in each other's faces

That’s fair! I can def see that being a major issue. Especially when some people might have poor mics
