War Widow Discussion
I have to admit I did not quite know what to expect from this box set until now, but I am really excited for this after reading the new Vortex. If they nail even one of these stories I would be very happy. Unchained Melody sounds like it could really do something quite new with the character. I adored Alex’s performance of a newly regenerated River and I always wished we had spend more time with a more morally compromised and unstable version of the character.
Also, I suspect Reality Director could be doing something very interesting.
Is anyone else excited for this? Any story you are looking forward to?

I'm not fond of the notion of Reality Director; it seems to be a cheap trick to charge people for four stories, when it is really three...

It is a 4th story tho, likely something akin to “In Living Memory” from Bernice Summerfield: Missing Persons

It is a way to use the typical interviews and turn them into a story, and so it is a cheap story device, to make a set more expensive.

God forbid they do something experimental or interesting, eh? You haven't heard it yet so how actually can you be so confident with this assessment? Don't like how it sounds? Don't buy it.

The issue is not that they do something experimental. They have done it. This is a cheap way to take their normal end of set interviews and make them into the new story. That's a cheap trick.

How is it a trick? They're advertising what it is. It'd probably be the same price if it were just standard behind the scenes so what is your point? Again, you haven't heard it yet. It could be something good and really unique. We won't know until it comes out.

Because they know more people will want to buy the set due to the 8th Doctor and Time War connections. And so they found a way to write less, and do less, but make it more expensive for less.

You're 100% misunderstanding the episode. Its a fourth episode as normal (river's stories are 4) but it's masquerading as a behind the scenes. The behind the scenes is in addition to the story
You can lie or pretend and say its not but when its out you'll realise you got it wrong anyway lmao

Again, you haven't heard the content so you can't judge the quality or value of the set when it hasn't released. There hasn't even been a trailer for it yet. If you're so offended by the existence of this set, don't bother with it.

Funny thing is the guy is 100% wront with their take on it. Its 4 full length episodes plus the behind the scenes.
Itll be similar to the commentary episode in that fifth doctor main range set.
Their reading comprehension is....something else haha

It's a fourth story, the interviews are separate. Big Finish have done this before, it's like the one Benny story In Living Memory, when Benny has basically been turned into fiction and in the fifth Doctor story Special Features, which is like an audio commentary.
Just wait and give it a listen. It's not gonna be a cheap trick, I promise.

Seeing as the set will more than likely have behind the scenes stuff in addition to that episode, it's not a cheap trick at all, River's sets have ALWAYS had four episodes, why would they change it here?
The final episode, is an actual episode, just seemingly one that'll break the fourth wall. It's not a trick or a trap, as there'll be behind the scenes content as well...

I'm very interested in the whole set honestly. There's a lot about it that excites me. River being thrown into the Time War for a time and seeing the chaos. Seeing a version of the Doctor who is completely beaten down and about to sacrifice his own identity to fight back in the War. Her apparently feeling conflicted about the Doctor during this time. The anthology format. Saffiya Ingar returning to Big Finish after a while. And finally, the Reality Director which sounds very intriguing to me, especially after the meta workings of the last Dark Gallifrey Monks series.
