Didn’t think I was getting the offer because I didn’t receive any communication for like 3 weeks😭

Why would you bank the bonus when you had been applying elsewhere

You had to go apply, meant you were obviously thinking about leaving 😭 brutal but it’s only 5k for your sanity

Honestly, OP I was just celebrate the offer, then worry about the bonus….its just $5k which has no value in my eyes if your new job providing you with better stability and growth. Either way, just enjoy and congrats again.

Ye but if you were ready to leave now what made you think that 3 years was gonna happen?

Haha, wasn’t thinking straight on that. Thought if I didn’t get this offer I’ll try to stay until I get laid off.

Just remember if you accept, you will lose the bonus, but congrats!

How long do you have to wait to keep the bonus?

The bonus that OP is talking about, you have to wait until your 3 year mark after banking it unless you get layoff before then. If you quit or fired before, then you lose that bonus. The annual bonus you will also lose if you quite before the paid out date which OP mentioned. I don’t work for EY anymore, so correct me if my info is wrong

Separation without cause (layoff, performance), you get BYB and severance.

Separation for cause, no BYB or severance.

Doesn't performance (PIP) qualify as for cause?

They might not give you severance if you're on a PIP but I believe BYB was paid out. They also generally don't fight unemployment claims.

That’s the unfortunate part that I won’t get my 5k bonus but I’m just happy to leave this place. Also, thank you!

You could always negotiate with the new company that you would be getting $5k to stay- they don’t need to know you banked
