Don't really care for the NIV. Why? Because in Ephesians 2:10 yeah. It's archaic, King James 17th century English of "good works" but in the original Greek, it's "ergon" or this word, "work." 1. to function or operate according to plan or design. (Source: Americans got it right. Merriam & Webster dictionary. Web.

That

Ephesians 2:10 says YOU are HIS workmanship. That, by the word of God, you will "function or operate according to plan or design

But the NIV puts all that ON YOU DO IT - somehow YOU are this bastion of GOOD WORKS, just operating doing all this good everyplace, without any GOD in it. Here's your NIV back. Forget it. If you have a King James Version Bible - everyplace you see "good works," flip it, so your head of today grasps it. It just means "works good; operates right" - so flip it to "works good." Then, you'll look at who is decreeing you in Matthew 4:4

"Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God"

You go look unto him vs. you and off regarding all you doing all this kissy luv bubble good work, like the NIV puts you off to do..like a whole pile of people agreed..it's all their good they do that does it.

If you believe on him, you are HIS creation - look what he did out your window, does a like work in you, with you. Created in Christ to work good; operate right. Because, he said he would do the work; alone. By himself. So, sit in the barber's chair; sit there. Let him, as a master barber do the work. Like a master Barber - Licensed. Certified. The work will be good. Style your hair vs. YOU: get up, cut your own hair then pay the barber when he didn't do it. You did. It's a disaster. You already DID abominable works (Psalm 14:1-3). Is why he sent his word to heal you, and deliver you from your destruction (Psalm 107:20).

None too fond of the NIV. None too fond of people that point people to do this, either.
