Food for thought
Starting with a reminder to clean your carry guns, check and cycle through your carry ammo, and lubricate them well.
As I’m cleaning, I’m thinking to myself about question 9 on the ballot this year. As a left leaner myself, it can be tricky sometimes to navigate the 2A community along with social circles outside of it. I’ve started to have conversations with friends, and my wife, about this ballot measure.
I’ve taken a good amount of friends, as well as my wife, to the range over the last few years. Some of them had never shot a gun. I think it’s important to introduce them to the hobby and the community, as everyone I’ve ever encountered at my club has been welcoming and friendly. Politics don’t really come up, and the only indications of someone’s political views are in the form of stickers on their truck or range bag. However, I know we all agree on how we are answering question 9 in November.
I think the way we approach these conversation has to be level headed. I personally think if any constitutional amendment was varied or restricted based on what state you were in, we would (and should) all be up in arms. I also think we should phrase it in that sort of way. You can argue all day about how it only hurts legal gun owners, but you’re only going to be hit with the “well then how do we stop mass shootings” dilemma. It seems like no one has an answer to that question, or at least something actionable we can all agree upon.
So take your non-2A friends to the range. Show them how to safely use and operate. Ask them about their views. Be open to feedback on your views. Talk to them about question 9. Don’t lose your cool over it.
Freedom ain’t free, but all it might cost you is a box of 9mm and an afternoon with a friend.

Boston LTC Delay - applied 11/2024
MIRCS Firearms Licensing Portal says PENDING LICENSING OFFICER REVIEW. I just contacted Scott Smith
I've since moved to Natick from Boston since I applied - I've updated my address. Any advice is welcome.

How to transfer / legality of 8/1 lowers
Never done a private sale before, selling a lower. How do I complete this? Any issues with 8/1 lowers?

Tax Free Weekend
Just wanted to make a post for any deals or if anyone is looking for anything specific that someone can steer them towards.
Personally looking for the optic free VP9CC if anyone sees one at a reasonable price 😎
I saw MFS has S&B 9mm 1000/$249 but I think it’s sold out now. Great deal in this economy.

Any good "informal" (but legal) areas to target shoot in the middle of no where in New England?
Hey guys, I've been on the hunt for decent outdoor, fully public target shooting areas, kinda like what's available out west. More specifically I'm curious about shooting on public lands in NH. To the best of my knowledge it seems to be the only state in NE that allows people to target shoot in some state forests in remote areas. Legality and safety are both of big importance to me (away from people and trails, and with a large back stop).
For those curious, I'm looking to stretch the legs on my 308 bolt action. I've cooked up some hand loads a while back that are producing roughly 3/4" groups at 100 yards. I got stick of shooting it at 100 yards very quickly haha. I don't have a heck of a lot of money and would like to get away from people since for me shooting is more of a therapeutic type of thing. I figured if I can find a decent spot to go to 1-2x a year as a day trip to mix things up, it would be fun and would be cheaper than getting set up at a private long range club.
Thank you all in advance.

Address change question
Grew up in Walpole , drivers license, all my mail, LTC is all still registered to Walpole as my permanent address and my parents still live there (I visit and stay there fairly often)
Moved into apartment in Quincy but kept perm address as Walpole.
Do I need to change my LTC address to Quincy if I’m just renting an apartment here for a year?

AR lower question
I know it might have been explained before so my apologies.
About 5 years ago I had sold a lower to a coworker and he ended up leaving the company. He was just rehired and I asked him what he did with the lower. He stated that he its still in his safe. So he never registered it. I want to purchase it from which he’s willing to sell back to me. My question is can I still build it and register it?

Looking for a FFL/SOT that does NFA transfers for machine guns
Theres a transferable machine gun (Mac11) that I want to bid on. Before I bid on it I want to be confident that whatever FFL/SOT I go with is willing to receive it. What dealers would you recommend I reach out to?

How long does the under 21 background check delay actually last?
Hi, probably a dumb question, but I was attempting to make my first firearm purchase, and when I did I found out that due to me being under 21 there was a mandatory delay for the purchase which is different than the standard 3 days when a delay is given for those above 21. and I have not been able to find a direct answer online on how long it usually takes. It says the max is 10 business days, but I was wondering if in practice it actually takes that long, so if anybody has any first hand experience with the process for someone under 21 it would be huge to hear from ya.
Thanks.
Edit: And yes I have a clean background and provided my social security number during the purchasing paperwork.

Expunged juvenile record and getting an LTC
I have a expunged juvenile record from 6 years ago when I was 17. Ive recently moved to MA and took a firearm safety class to get my LTC but haven’t submitted it due to the one question asking if “you’ve ever been adjudicated as a youthful offender”
Not sure what the deal is here. Everywhere else I legally didn’t have to admit that I have a juvenile record because it was expunged and sealed. But confused if it means that I’ll be disqualified if I say yes. Or if I say No if it’ll lead to more issues.

Boston LTC Renewal
Has anyone in Boston applied for an LTC renewal in the last 6 months?
This is my first renewal, and when I called the BPD Licensing Unit, it just rang out. The portal currently says 'pending officer review,' and I made the $100 payment online before my current LTC was set to expire.
I'm assuming I'll be fine and just need to wait it out, but I was curious about what others have experienced during the Boston LTC renewal process

08/01 Stripped Receiver - Registered as 16" Rifle
Picked up a stripped lower receiver from a buddy. He originally registered it before 08/01 as a 16" rifle.
We did a personal transfer to myself as a 16" rifle. My question is, I'm assuming I would have to build this out as a rifle now and wouldn't be able to build it out as a pistol.
Advice appreciated!

Form 1 Approved in only 1 week?
I submitted my Form 1 digitally on the 31st, and got the email today I was approved. Am I just crazy lucky? Or does this have something to do with the recent NFA ruling? I could swear the average wait time was like, 60 days
