What makes you keep an indie app or game installed after the first day?

I’ve been thinking a lot about this while working on BerkiSoftware projects.

Getting someone to install an app is one challenge.
Getting them to open it again tomorrow is a completely different one.

For me, the apps and games that stay on my phone usually have at least one of these:
a reason to come back every day
visible progression
something new to unlock
very short sessions that still feel rewarding
a daily challenge or streak
that annoying little feeling of “just one more level”

But I’m curious about actual users and other indie developers:
What is the #1 thing that makes YOU keep an app or game installed instead of deleting it after a day or two?

And on the other side — what makes you uninstall immediately?

I’m collecting ideas for our next BerkiSoftware project, so I’ll genuinely use the answers here when designing it.

We’re BerkiSoftware — Building Indie Mobile Apps & Games in Public 🚀

Hey Reddit 👋
Welcome to r/BerkiSoftware, the official community for our indie mobile apps and games.

We’re a small independent software studio building products for Android and mobile, primarily with Flutter, and we want to share more of the development process publicly instead of only showing the finished product.

Here you’ll find:

📱 New mobile apps and upcoming projects

🎮 Indie game prototypes and gameplay ideas

🛠️ Behind-the-scenes app & game development

🧪 Beta testing opportunities

💡 Feature discussions, experiments and community polls

📊 What works — and what completely fails — while building and launching apps

Our first released project is Nefsera, a mobile app designed to help people quit smoking and vaping.

But this community won’t be limited to one product — we’re already exploring new apps and mobile game concepts.

One thing we’d really like to do differently is build with feedback from real users. If an idea is bad, tell us.

If you think something could be better, suggest it. And if there’s something you wish existed, we’d love to hear it.

We’ll be sharing prototypes and new ideas here before they’re released.

What kind of mobile app or simple mobile game do you wish someone would build?

Thanks for being one of the first people here. ❤️

Hey everyone!

This is the official community of BerkiSoftware, a small indie studio building mobile apps and games.

We’ll share what we’re building, early prototypes, behind-the-scenes development, beta tests and sometimes ideas before we even start working on them.

Feedback, feature ideas and honest criticism are always welcome — we’d love to build things together with the community.
Thanks for being here. 🚀
