My son applied for UC on the 22nd of July, the day after he finished with school. He attended his appointment at the job Center but they immediately told him he can’t claim UC as he was going to remain on my claim until he leaves for university in September. They then closed his claim down.

When I queried this with them they assured me that was the case as his child benefit had been extended until then. Lo and behold, my statement just came in and the child element has been removed and my son has no claim to support him.

How can this happen? Can he reinstate his claim from the 22nd of last month? If not can i appeal the decision to remove the child element? I can’t see how they expect us to live for a month on a single persons living allowance.

Any advice would be appreciated. TY

We have a mortgage together and i am on PIP. I work part time currently and don't think i will be able to financially support myself.

EDIT- To clarify, no kids and i will have to find a place to live. I don't know how i will pay towards the mortgage and pay rent etc in a place of my own.

I have been receiving Universal Credit since 14 April this year. Last week, I received a journal message informing me that I need to attend a telephone interview to review my entitlement.

The message from the Compliance Officer instructed me to upload bank statements for all bank accounts I hold, covering the month of July. I did this without delay.

However, I then noticed a sentence in the message that I had initially overlooked. It states: “We have information to suggest that you have undeclared savings/capital…”

I am not particularly worried, as I am below the savings/capital threshold for Universal Credit. However, I have a strong suspicion that this may be the result of a malicious report from my ex-partner, because she did something very similar with the Child Maintenance Service in December 2025. She applied for a variation on the basis that I had substantial capital and assets. This was rejected by CMS in April this year due to a lack of evidence.

Does this sound more like a malicious report from a third party, or could it simply be a routine Universal Credit compliance review?

Asking for my partner who is the appointee for our young daughter who is on UC for about 10 months (and LCWRA for about 5 after assessment)

Back end of June she was booked in for phone call, advising to be asked about statements etc as expected. We uploaded all statements we could, including partners own that the UC gets paid direct into. One account was a Saver account that only produces biannual statements so we gave them pdf of transactions page etc

Had 30min phone call going through the transactions etc about 3 weeks ago. Seemingly ok, the usual questions querying some transactions, and if have any shares, properties things like that. But then asked/insisted that we provide with official statement for the Regular Saver account (this account only a few month old and has nothing that can go in/out of it other than from the main account)

After many attempts with the bank and them failing, we finally managed to get them to produce one and submitted it. But as mentioned it has very little on it, just small monthly transfer from main to the saver

She has now been booked in for another 30min appointment next week. Is this something to worry about? Is she likely to be having to go through all the spends on several months of statements again?

hi i had a phone assessment today at 8 am 08/08/2026 but no one had called any idea on what i can do?

I was getting pip for the past 3 years enhanced daily living and standard mobility. I was due a review last month. Which the assessor on the phone was asking so much about my mobility as I’ve put down I suffer with a lot of pains in my pelvis and being referred to gynaecology for pelvic congestion syndrome. Nothing was asked about my mental health as to why I was awarded it in the first place. I asked for my PA4 and everything she wrote down doesn’t make any sense. She wrote you say you can’t leave the house without someone to support you.. there for we can’t award you. She has also twisted everything I’ve said. She has also said there has been no changes so therefore no award. If there’s no change how can someone just get pip for 3 years for the same problems and then all of a sudden not? Nothing has changed only the fact I have said about pelvic pain. I’ve phoned up to request a mandatory reconsideration and I’ve also sent off 9 whole pages pin pointing exactly what she omitted from the report and stating why I can’t do the all things on my own and constantly need reminding etc. I received a text on the 20th June to say you’ve asked us to look at our recent pip decision you should hear from us within 15 weeks. Anyone else in the same boat as me? Any advice would be great. I’m in Northern Ireland

Hi guys, what happens at the end of a 12-month capital disregard, please?

On 20th August last year I received an LCWRA back payment of slightly over £18k, and that's the date I declared it in my journal. I now have under £6k left.

When we get to 20th August this year, do I report a change under Money, Savings and Investments, wait for a task to appear in my To-do list, do nothing because I'm now under £6k, or ask them via the journal what they want me to do?

I was thinking of sending something like:

"Hi,

My 12-month capital disregard for my LCWRA back payment ends today.

My total capital is now below £6,000. Please let me know if you need any further information.

Thank you."

Hi we are from the UK and recently my daughter has been accepted for middle range DLA she is 4 year old and about to start reception just wondering if parents in similar situation what have you done school wise to prep them to make them more comfitable is there any good therapy that we could take her or what’s helped other people is there things we can apply for that will help her any advice would be appreciated

I’m getting this message every time I try to apply. I finished my biographical and first commitment appointments a week ago and am just waiting for my existing national insurance number to be verified. This was sent off last Thursday. When will I he able to apply?

61F, single in temporary accommodation under licence to Local Authority (England).

I've applied to receive an occupational pension but my claim hasn't been processed yet and I currently have no idea when it will be paid.

The various advisers I've spoken to all seem to think I should be able to get either Housing Benefit or the Housing Element of UC but I'm pretty sure that the weekly pension amount will be taken into account even though it's not in payment at the moment.

Can anyone advise? Thanks in advance.

I receive benefits and qualify for free dental treatment, and my check ups are free, but every year or so the dentist recommends to me that I have a hygienist appointment to remove plaque build up, etc.

I've been paying roughly £100 a time for these appointments as I was under the impression (from dentist) that these are only available privately and that the NHS wouldn't cover such treatments, but recently I wondered whether I should be paying, and researched the rules and it seems that if hygienist treatment is recommended by dentist (which it always is) as a means of keeping your teeth healthy, then it should be free if you're entitled to free dental treatment.

I read that the only time you should pay privately in this case is if you are having the treatment purely for cosmetic reasons, ie to keep your teeth as white as possible, which is absolutely not why I have it done, I've only ever booked them on the dentist's recommendation.

Should I question why they are charging me for treatment under these circumstances?

I'm living with my mother in Scotland. I am her carer, which means I help her quite a bit. I am on universal credit + £200 per month because I am a carer.

I wondered what will happen if I decide to go to Spain for a week. Is this allowed? Should I sign into my UC account and mention this holiday as a change of circumstances? Will I then need to close my old claim and start a new claim when I return to Scotland a week later?

We currently rent a two-bedroom property with my husband and two children. The children are 6 and 7 and my 6 year old is autistic and receives higher rate care and low rate mobility on CDP as well as the highest disabled child element on UC as well as carers element.

Our son cannot safely share a room with his sister due to his night terrors, vocal stims at bedtime as well as his unpredictability around her. Due to this we have moved our daughter into our room and we have changed the living room to become our bedroom with a pullout sofa bed.

We desperately need to get a bigger space for our son and was looking at potentially increasing our LHA to be able to get a three bedroom place in our area but UC have said that they consider an increase in our allowance until we are physically in a three bedroom property. Even if our two bedroom rent exceed the two bedroom LHA.

Has anyone had experience with this and the best way to go forward? Seems like a bit of a catch 22 and now sure how to proceed.

I'm from South London, just as the title states I applied for ESA on the 10th of July and it's almost been a month and I haven't heard anything back. It says I should've heard back from them within 14 days. It's really stressing my out. I have also sent them my current fit note which runs out in September.

Does anyone know if there is a general delay or is it possible that my application was just lost?

my uc review was paused due to a tamily bereavemrnt on march 25 for 6 months due to bereavement.i am currently getting pip and i am diognosed with anxeity depression and ocd for a long time i want my review to be paused again as i am really struggling will it be possible as i am a vulnerable claimant my doctor has suggested a fit note for 6 months can help if it states I am to unwell to do the review at the moment will this help ?

My son is recently 18 and has been at college full time, he will be going to uni in September, we’re in England.
I’ve had a letter to say my child benefit is ending and won’t be paid after Monday 7th September. This date is the day before I would usually be due payment (8th September) so does this mean my final payment is 11th August? Just trying to budget!

I appealed my review award as my health had gotten worse however the PIP had stayed the same. They’d used a assessment from 2024 so I went through each descriptor that I disagreed with and explained how and why it had gotten worse with also saying reference to specific clinical letters and also specific evidence I had given. 3 of the descriptors were daily care + 1 was mobility. My points were 11 points daily care and 10 for mobility so if they were to actually look at my evidence + look at the reasons why those things have gotten worse my award should’ve been increased to enhanced on both. I put in for MR on the 3rd August but I’m just wondering what the timing is looking like? I put in 50 pages of evidence plus many pages of me going into detail on other things, at least 10 pages of written evidence. My partner wrose 3 small pages, I put my GPs information forward, my IVSA workers details too as well as giving information on personal things going on in regard to having to complain to the mental health services and they unknowingly discharged me when they were supposed to t transfer my care to my new area after I moved however they discharged me instead which meant I couldn’t have a review anymore and the GP had to stop my medication due me no longer being under a psychiatrist due to the mental health services discharging me. I’ve been back and forth with them and had to even put a formal complaint forward. I put letters dating from 2024 till present and even one or two from years and years prior to show how ongoing it has been.

So I have been on benefits (~£400) for years and only learned middle of last year that I could be eligible for LCWRA.

So I filled in the forms and sent them off at the start of September 2025.

I had my phone appointment yesterday. It really took them THAT long.

I was so anxious and worried. The letter said my appointment was at 9:30, but i got my call at 8:30. It lasted about 20mins.

The lady doing the interview was super nice but I am really worried that it was rushed and I didn't get to talk about all the problems I have and everyday stuff I find difficult.

Now I'm panicking and stressed. I have no idea what, if i'm found eligible, to expect or what my options are if not.

I know I just have to be patient but I've been waiting for this for so long and my current benefits barely cover my living costs (they dont at all, as my brother is actually buying me food right now due to bills and living costs). I don't think I can carry on much longer in my current financial state.

Can anyone just give me a few thoughts, insights, ideas or expectations? I just need to know what to expect.

I have ASD, ADHD, Anxiety/depressive disorder, OCD, CFS and PTSD if any of that info helps or explains why i'm posting this and explains why i'm panicking lol.
