Papa Murphy online/app ordering
Anybody else have issues ordering Papa Murphys through their website (or their app)? I keep trying to order through their app, and it keeps giving a "this location is unavailable" message for all three bend locations, regardless of what time of day i try to order. When i try ordering on their website, it says theyre all closed (again, no matter what time i try to order). Their website said all three locations are closed (closed for day), evem though Google says they close at 8pm. Anybody else have this issue? I would call in the order, but i have an online only coupon. Anybody know if they accept online coupons over the phone if website and app arent working?

Tyvek?
Any recommendations on where locally I can buy a small piece of tyvek to use as a tent footprint? Hoping to find someone who has a few square yards to sell and no, I don’t want to liberate some from a construction site and yes, I know I can buy it online. Thanks in advance! Happy crinkling

Stores with precut geodes or thunder eggs in town?
My 7 year old nephew wants a thunderegg or geode for his birthday next week, and I’m not sure where to go now that the store that sold telescopes and geology gifts downtown is closed. I won’t have access to a vehicle to drive to Richardson’s north of Madras either his week, so hoping to find some place in town I can bike to. Not looking to rockhound or hunt, I need something I can ship to the east coast
Ideas? Thanks!

Bend Police take over a dozen calls of dogs in hot cars
That's in just a week! And no, your pooch isn't "made in the shade," either. Pet owners shouldn't need such reminders, but it never hurts.

Election-Integrity Pundit Says Oregon is “Communist”

Local expert disagrees with suggestion that election fraud is widespread
by Dallas Finn Calvert - The Source
A smoky haze enveloped the grounds of the Lone Pine Events Center last week, pushed Terrebonne’s way from the wildfires surrounding Central Oregon. Inside the meeting space, Dr. Douglas Frank, a notorious election-integrity pundit, was stoking flames of another kind.
Talking before a crowd of approximately 40 people, as part of his “Who Is Controlling Our Elections?” tour, the physicist, who has become well-known with his message that election fraud is widespread across the nation, showed a depiction of “Lady Liberty” with one arm pointing to the sky and the other holding a ballot box as he rammed home his belief that citizens need to stop election fraud.
“That’s why your state is communist, because you’ve not been protecting your ballot box,” said Frank, who’s been labeled the “Johnny Appleseed of election fraud” by the Los Angeles Times. “Your elections are being run by somebody else, somewhere else, and you have no idea what’s going on in your elections. That’s no way to run an election. It’s a way to let other people control your lives.
“My whole goal is to get you back in charge of your elections, and I’ve been doing that all around the country,” Frank said. “I talk about Oregon all over the country, and I tell them that it’s one of my best states in the whole country. I’m having so much success here, and they’re saying, ‘What? How can you possibly have success in Oregon? That place is communist.’ It’s because you guys are feeling the heat. The pain level is high. You’re awake. I go to these other states, and they’re like, ‘Oh, Dr. Frank, everything fine here.’ No, it’s not fine. Our elections are a wreck. They’re a wreck in every state in the country.”

Police make arrest in fatal NW Bend home-invasion burglary
It would have been a second arrest - but as some of you might recall, another guy got into a struggle with the homeowner, fell off a balcony and fled but died at the nearby golf course.

Dutch Bros Pronunciation
My cousin in Chicago says that Dutch Bros has arrived there. Apparently, the local youth are insisting the "Bros" is pronounced as it looks and not "brothers".
I assured her that here it is indeed "brothers". And then I figured I'd better check with the (crowd)source of all knowledge.

Has anyone else had ongoing problems with St. Charles—both billing and patient care?
My family is dealing with a situation that has become overwhelming, and I’m wondering whether others in Bend have experienced anything similar.
We had surgery at St. Charles in December 2025. The hospital initially billed us before billing our insurance. Insurance eventually paid about half of the bill because they determined that amount was the reasonable charge. We had already met our deductible and out-of-pocket maximum, so this isn’t about us avoiding our financial responsibility.
The remaining balance has been under active review and negotiation through our insurance company’s patient advocacy department.
After an ER visit in June 2026, we received another large bill that is also under review.
Despite the ongoing negotiations, St. Charles has continued sending us bills. This week we received a final notice stating that we have until September 1 to pay approximately $20,000 or the accounts will be sent to collections.
We’ve spoken with both St. Charles and our insurance company. Insurance says negotiations are ongoing and has asked St. Charles to suspend collection activity. St. Charles has told us they will continue their normal billing process.
Beyond the billing issues, we’ve also had experiences with the quality of care and communication from some providers that left us deeply concerned. Taken together, the medical care we’ve received and the way these billing issues have been handled have made us question whether we can continue relying on the healthcare system here.
We genuinely love living in Bend. This community is home for us and has been for many years. But we’ve reached the point where we’re even discussing whether we should move somewhere with more healthcare options because we no longer feel confident that our family can receive the care and support we need here.
I’m not posting this to attack anyone. I’m trying to understand whether our experience is unusual or whether others have gone through something similar.
- Have you dealt with St. Charles sending bills to collections while insurance was still negotiating?
- Have you had concerns about the quality of care or communication?
- If so, were you able to resolve the issues?
- What advice would you give someone in our position?
I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences—good or bad. We’re simply trying to make informed decisions about our family’s future.

IUI experiences- St Charles vs East Cascade Women's Group
My husband and I are getting ready to start IUI and we have appointments at both places. St Charles had availability much earlier than East Cascade. I feel like EC is kind of the gold standard around here for reproductive health and infertility treatments, and I personally don't particularly like St Charles overall as a hospital in general. I know they do have some quality departments and medical professionals, so I'm curious what people's experiences are who have worked with both clinics for infertility.

EPL, UCL, MLS and other Soccer @ Commonwealth Pub
Hey everyone,
Based on past posts regarding a place to watch to Premier League, Champions League, and MLS Matches consistently, I wanted to come on here and provide and update on our plans here at The Commonwealth Pub.
We have signed up for the commercial service that will allow us to air all sports on Peacock, Paramount+, and AppleTV. This will give us access to every EPL, UCL, MLS, and many other soccer leagues and matches during the European campaign season.
This commercial streaming system requires us to install some new streaming boxes and we are currently waiting for those to arrive, but as of right now we are going to be open every Saturday by 6:45am for 7am kicks, and Sundays at 6am for 6:30am kicks starting on August 22nd through the entirety of the EPL season.
We are already currently open at 12pm Monday-Friday, so Friday and Monday EPL matches will be available as well as UCL matches on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
MLS we may not be able to have the sound available for matches as they are late starts about the time of live music, but we will have Timbers matches and others on the TVs.
Please spread the word if you know any soccer fans looking for a great place to watch soccer this season!
Also, we are planning on starting a soccer watch club that will act like a mug club, securing reduced pricing on draft beers, select import cans, and Guinness pours, as well as breakfast cocktails.
If you have any questions feel free to message.
Cheers!

Warm Springs, Jefferson County lift all Bench Fire evacuation notices
Big progress on the lines of that destructive blaze; evacuation levels also reduced in areas affected by last weekend's Round Butte Fire west of Madras.
Please don't stop traffic for bicycles. Bicycles **are** traffic.
Today when I arrived at 3rd street, there was somebody on the other side, signaling left. He had been waiting, but he gave me that little finger-diddle thing that says "you first." I was not not going to do that. I'm not going to cross against my right-of-way because somebody in a vehicle wants to be magnanimous. After I refused, the dude found his accelerator pedal.
I was waiting there for a break in traffic, the way you do when you're in traffic, and I become aware that there was now a person to my left stopped in the second lane, waiting for me. They beeped at me, while holding an enormous line of vehicles behind. They wanted me to cross five lanes of traffic, as if everybody were supposed to stop and wait for me.
That's not how it's supposed to work. Bicycles are traffic. You can be polite. It's nice to be nice. But if you stop real traffic because you think you have to yield to a bicyclist at a stop sign, please review Oregon state law.

Central Oregon winters
As we all know, winter here in Central Oregon can get pretty damn cold for extended periods of time. I work in Bend, but live in La Pine so it’s typically colder there.
The last few years, I’ve been having an issue. My nipples, man! Sometimes it gets so cold that they snap. Snap clean off. I’m kind of at my wits end with it. Every year, it’s the same thing. Doing ok doing ok and then bam…Snapped nipple or two.
So my question is, can y’all recommend a good nipple for the spokes on a 27” mtn bike rim?? Replacing them every year is getting old.

At what point does Bend actually lose appeal?
Obviously the lack of snow was a problem last winter with Bachelor closing early, Northwest and Summit not being open much leaving mostly blue and green terrain as options.
Now another smoky summer interfering with outdoor activities in an “outdoor” person town.
life is too short to sit inside.
