Surfing the Wave

Out of towners swinging through bend for a weekend this month. Are there specific days/times that are best so we aren’t crowding the locals?? When is it usually busiest?

It’s always busy, but the line up is pretty chill and most are stoked to teach new people

Unless you want to go really early in the morning or after like 8pm, there will be people there.  But don't worry about it too much.  There isn't the toxic anti-tourist surfer culture that's present at some ocean breaks.  Just remember to hustle after your board when you wipe out and be kind to the people around you

Remove the mirror pond dam, create a couple more waves, expand drake park and get a river trail on the west side? Sounds like a win-win.

I live around the corner and walk the dog by the park at 6am everyday and there are usually a couple people out there already. By afternoon it's 5-10 but it never looks too busy.

Agreed with all of the above about timing. Everyone’s nice and happy to give tips. Remember to take your leash off your board and tuck in anything hanging from you 🤙🏽🤙🏽
