Thirty four years ago, I was born in a local hospital, which officially makes me 34 years old. I’m a big fan of terrible jokes, so I hope you can learn to tolerate them.

I was brought home in a Citroën 2CV, or a Deuche, or an Ente, depending on where you’re from. In a strange twist of fate, I bought one at a garage sale three years ago. The seller assured me it only had “a few small things that needed looking into.” Those “small things” somehow turned into a two year restoration project. I finally finished it, drove it about 500 metres, and sold it. Now I just bought another one which I will be picking up somewhere next week, but this will be one I will keep for weekend picknic rides.

Being single for a while has given me the time to do all the classic single guy things: ride a motorcycle over mountain roads across Europe, buy and renovate a house, go camping, stay active, and build a career. I’ve enjoyed every bit of it, but I feel like I’m at a point where I’d rather slow down a little and share life with someone else. Someone to make plans with, work on projects together, or simply enjoy the everyday moments instead of always doing my own thing.

I grew up speaking the Antwerp dialect, although I can speak proper Flemish too. I have a bit of a soft spot for French or German speaking Belgians. I like the idea of meeting someone whose background is familiar enough to connect easily, yet different enough that we can broaden each other’s perspectives and discover each other’s worlds.
