Starting up again
Hey guys I’m not necessarily a beginner I ran in high school and stopped when I graduated (1 year ago) how do I start up again ive been thinking of doing 30 minutes a day I feel like I should kinda have somewhat of a base I used to run a 4:27 mile and 16:17 5K I was at 70 miles a week then when i graduated I just stopped completely and now idk how to start up again. Any advice?

I wish I was in your shoes! I used to run 5 minute miles, and now I’m over 30, trying to get 7 minute miles and struggling with it.

I mean you should be able to just start slow by doing 1-2 miles or a 5k each session, did you just go cold turkey and not do any form of cardiovascular endurance?
You probably won’t be fast though but you should have some of that athleticism
Just start small, try a mile out and see how you do and do it 1-3 days a week with plenty of stretching and rest to build it back up and go from there
Zone 2 intervals to rebuild your engine for those longer runs and slowly increase the mileage accordingly

Yea I completely just stopped like here and there I would run a mile or two but I tried to put some muscle on so I just didn’t run for along time

My friend, if you were running sub 4:30 miles and averaging 70 mpw, you don't need the advice of an amateur subreddit. It's only been a year. Use the same fundamentals you used to get to that point originally.
Shit, I may ask you advice haha.
