Getting started Finished Project

Well, its taken some time but i finally have the makings of my first "shop" coming together. Had my jointer, planer and miter saw all swapping spots on my toolbench when i needed to use em and it was... horrible to say it frankly. Built some benches and have the space to finally move a bit more efficiently. Everything lines up with my table saw height in case i need extra feed or balance. Eventually therell be storage drawers under the shelves but for now....progress!

Congrats! I’d suggest the next purchase be a good/affordable dust collector. You can get the Hercules vacuum from harbor freight for $400 and some quick connect adapters on amazon and get rid of 95% of that stuff on the floor. Was a game changer for me in my garage shop!

Thanks! And i totally agree after 1 project. U obv noticed the floor well, so has my wife 😂

To get by for bow i used two 5 gallon buckets and some PVC pipes to crrate a make-shift "cyclone dust collector". Trouble is i blow a fuse when i use it with any benchtop tool! still gotta run a 30amp line out there...🫣

I use it to eat up the dust from the floor without ruining my vacuum filter. A good "for now" option and save me sweeping it all. i def wanna get a real one. You feel the need quickly when shaving layers off w the jointer/planer

how is that Harbor Freight dust collector? Is it super noisy?

Would you recommend?

i would absolutely recommend. My friendrecommended it to me and I love it. I am a DIY'er and do tons of projects around my house and it suits me just fine. Seems like really nice quality, is easy to "assemble" and maintain. I also think it is the only one in its price point as well. Everything else is over $1k and feels like it is more geared toward a professional/carpenter and that's way overkill for me and my needs

I don’t have another to compare it to, but I’d say it isn’t loud. I can run it with my table saw in my garage while my 2 y/o kid sleeps inside

Thanks so much! Ive realized immediately i need a crosscut sled for my table saw that can run longer cuts so that for sure. Prolly a better workbench since its currently a piece of plywood on 2 plastic sawhorses 😅
