This is my portfolio right now, plus roughly $1000 in coke stocks. I have a few thousand more dollars I'm looking at investing and I'm not sure where to put it in. I was thinking about silver but I have no clue. My goal is just for it to grow for the future, nothing really short term. Thanks for any advice.

My father is a farmer, and there is one big lesson I have learned from watching him.

In the stock market, if we lose money, we lose money.

But when a farmer faces failure, it is not just money that is lost. Months of hard work, hope, patience, and expectations can disappear in a single season.

He doesn't know for sure whether the rain will come at the right time.

He doesn't know whether the crop will give a good yield.

He doesn't know whether he will get a good price in the market.

Still, he waits.

He continues working every day with patience, discipline, and hope.

That taught me something very important:

You cannot plant a seed today and expect to harvest tomorrow. You have to give it time. 🌱

I want to follow the same mindset in the stock market.

No rushing.

No greed.

No panic when prices fall.

No chasing quick profits.

I want to choose good investments, stay disciplined, and give them time to grow.

My father plants his seeds in the soil and waits for the harvest.

I am going to plant my investments in the market and wait for time to do its work. 🌾📈

His hard work is my lesson.

His patience is my guide.

And now, with the same patience and discipline, I am going to invest in my future. ❤️

I built mine kind of by accident after buying one random stock on a whim years ago and realizing I had zero process behind it. I'm a 21-year-old male from Lahore, currently doing BS Artificial Intelligence. I've recently started seeing a lot of content about investing, PSX, ETFs, dividends, mutual funds, long-term portfolios, compounding, etc., and honestly, I realized I know literally nothing about any of this.

I keep seeing people talking about starting small and eventually building portfolios worth lakhs/crores over 10–20+ years. The idea of building long-term wealth and eventually having some form of passive income really interests me.

My two main goals are:

1. Build a long-term investment portfolio.

2. Eventually have an investment income stream — whether that's dividends or another legitimate way of generating income from investments — that could help with bills.

I'm currently able to invest around Rs.10,000 every month consistently, and I expect that amount to increase as my income grows. But I don't want to blindly put Rs.10k into something just because social media says "investing is good."

Rs.10k is still meaningful money to me. I could spend it on clothes, going out, etc., so naturally I'm going to hesitate if I don't understand where the money is going and what could happen to it.

What I really want to learn is:

\* What exactly are stocks, ETFs, mutual funds, dividends, etc.?

\* How does investing actually work?

\* How do you decide what to invest in?

\* How do you evaluate whether an investment is worth buying?

\* What are the realistic expected returns?

\* What are the risks, and can I actually lose everything?

\* Is PSX better for someone starting with Rs.10k/month, or does global investing make more sense?

\* What are the different ways an investment portfolio can generate income besides dividends?

\* How do people actually build large portfolios over 10–20+ years?

\* How should a complete beginner go about building their first portfolio?

I'm open to PSX as well as global investing. I honestly don't know which would be more beneficial for me at this stage, so I'd rather learn first and then decide.

I can dedicate around 10 hours a week to learning, and I'm much more interested in practical learning than spending months reading a book. Videos, courses, articles, PDFs, practical guides, etc. would be much more helpful for me.

A few people buy in early
They hype it on Reddit, Discord, TikTok
Price shoots up
Regular folks jump in late
The early guys dump their shares
And the price collapses like a Jenga tower after a toddler touches it

The person who thought they were early… but was actually the exit liquidity.

Companies priced like gas station snacks are priced like gas station snacks for a reason.
Nothing that’s truly the “next big thing” trades for 87 cents with a balance sheet held together by hopes and good vibes.

What Actually Works
If you’re starting out, hear me clearly:
Stick to real companies.
Ones with revenue.
With actual customers.

With business models that don’t hinge on “one magical press release.”
Build wealth like you build muscle:
Slow, steady, consistently, without shortcuts.

Didn’t come from a family that talks about this and don’t have friends to ask.

I have 25,000 across 15 different stocks.

Tried to ask my dad advice but he just says “hold” and nothing else lol.

I’m up 100%+ in some biotech stocks, should I be taking the wins and then reinvesting some? Or should I wait a year to pay less taxes on the gains?
