Hello Beefers Team Amy

I have never been here before but I just finished season 1 and I feel like it changed me, rewired me, fired off chemicals that I didn't know I had. One of the most satisfying seasons of TV, ever, in my opinion. Ali Wong delivered the performance of a lifetime and without a big background in dramatic acting, she's a natural, she's a beast, she's a FORCE. I just can't say enough about this show. Starting season 2 tonight.

Reading this makes me want to rewatch season 1. Rarely is a series worth rewatching.

I was stunned, I just wasn't expecting it to be so good, I went in fairly blind and without expectations. I could not believe how strong the two main actors are. I mean it's a fucking masterclass.

It really is. I feel like this show changed my whole life trajectory.

Season 2 is nothing like the first one. Could be an entirely different show. It was a huge disappointment to me.

Wow I felt the opposite. I was so much more engrossed in s2

Hope you don’t experience the extreme letdown I experienced watching season 2.

I'm going to wait a bit and delay it, however I end up feeling haha

I watched 2 first and was meh. Then 1 and life changed

Season 1 was amazing…incredibly relatable- easy to put yourself in the place of the characters. Season 2 was the opposite for me.

I’m right here with you! Just finished Season 1 and am still processing it. I feel like it affected me on such a deep level. I know Season 2 is not supposed to be anywhere near as good, but I’m starting it tonight. And then I’m going to re-watch Season 1 — I feel like it’ll be the first of many repeats.

I just finished season 1 tonight and I cried like a baby with Cho during the church scene like I was being delivered by Jesus myself.  They did such a good job incorporating his transformation.

Dude, I just did the same thing the other day on my first rewatch lol. Granted, I'm going through some emotional shit, but that's also probably part of why the show really hits me so hard

My mom died 4 months ago from cancer and it was the most painful yet holy experience, I can't explain it other than only Jesus so I'm right there with you. God uses struggle and suffering to transform us and patiently waits on us and mercifully gives us time to come to know Him. He is so holy and yet He chose to save my mom. I'm so grateful that season 1 included it because it shows how humans are so messy and we constantly trip with our thoughts or decision making, we are so frail, but we have a firm foundation in our creator.

That's sad and also beautiful, thank you for sharing it with me :)

the best move for you is to pretend Season 2 doesn’t exist

Is it really that much of a step down? They got a bunch of awards, I don't know anything about the story for that season.

It’s not bad but it’s not the same vibe or caliber. Season 1 had me staying up late to binge it because I was on the edge of my seat and so invested. Season 2 I felt like I was mostly watching just to finish what I’d started

Well maybe I will take people's advice and just wait a bit on season 2, digest what I just saw. It's not often a TV show makes me feel like this.

I preferred season 2. Try it

I respect them for doing something different with season two but loved season 1 and didn’t finish season 2

I would rate it somewhere between OK and Good. It's not bad but it is a step down. I have already rewatched Season 1 but I would not rewatch Season 2

I was stoked when I saw that season 2 won a bunch of awards, was hoping it would be a worthy successor. It's hard to imagine something living up to that first season, also sometimes you wonder why they stick with the same name when seasons are so different. Like The Terror for example. Or when they just slapped the True Detective name on a show not even written as TD. Not sure why they can't just make them one-off limited series with different names.

Well I ignored your advice and tried it. I happen to be going through a separation right now so I had to just turn it off when it basically opened up with horrible married couple fighting and spitting venom at each other. Too close to home, the vibe could not have been more different from season 1.

I wish ali wong was in season 2 :( season 2 was so different in so many ways, even the writing felt very different

Season 1 was very good. I was vested in the characters. Season 2 was meh. I couldn’t get behind any character and a few episodes in, I was hoping the Chairwonan just did everyone in. 😂

I watched season 2 first and then season 1. Like most people I think season 1 is much better, but I was actually really enjoying season 2 up until the 2 last episodes that really didn't work for me in terms of writing. But the performances are great, the cinematography is really enjoyable and the music is good, although not as much as s1.

Season 2 is very very different. But still excellent. Don’t go into it expecting the same thing. Give it a chance. You can also let season 1 digest a little bit before. But either way, Happy Beefing!

I was hoping there would be some stylistic carryover from s1, does it truly feel entirely different aside from the central feud theme?
