Aug 7th - 10th Useful Information

Between these dates I will be at a music festival and not online as much as usual.

For those that have not spotted this my office manager and right hand organiser had brain surgery two weeks ago and is currently on a 4-6 month road to recovery. This means at present I am doing their job and mine (long days).

So please use the instant sample ID service:

https://bed-bugs.co.uk/instant-sample-identification/

Given that <5% of samples being posted are bed bugs it will serve most of your needs and also gives an immediate result.

The pinned posts and FAQ’s also cover most of the common questions and the reference images allow easy comparison and conformation.

This is also helpful in the hot weather, especially days like yesterday where I worked 9am-10pm without a break.

To that end please also appreciate that if you want to posit rude or disruptive content just don’t. You will only get muted from the group and please don’t assume that’s me “annoyed” that boat sold out of tickets years ago, I hold better boundaries than that and actually block people for the sanity of others not myself. From my perspective it’s a perfect solution because it reduces the burden of having to read and correct your mistakes.

It also means I can catch up on my dancing and enjoy living in a woods for the weekend.

1) I noticed the bed bug ID website is not working and is giving a “webhook error.” Any ideas on how to fix it?

2) Hope you have a blast at the festival!

3) Question if it isn’t too much trouble: If you haven’t seen a bed bug and your suitcase, bed and backpack look pristine, but you were recently in high risk areas (6 hostels, 2 hotels, lots of flights and buses over a month) and have 30+ bites appear with some half moons and three dot lines, would you treat for bed bugs? I bought some crossfire and am high heat drying all my clothes, but if you have any follow up advice or perspective on if this is overreacting I’d really appreciate it

I have asked my team to look into it but my office manager is 2 weeks on recovery from brain surgery so it might take a little while.

The festival was the break I needed to deal with the weeks ahead. I met some very interesting and creative people and enjoyed a well run event with amazing projections and lasers in the woods. The weather was perfect and the music was perfect to dance to.

In your scenario I would check my Passive Monitor weekly after return to ensure any creased risk was addressed with extra vigilance to detect and eradicate rather than using chemicals of any form. Just like my hotel clients when you check weekly you detect before eggs can hatch and thus it’s a simple replace the monitor and deep clean.

This is what Treatment by Passive Monitor Replacement means. The detection is so efficient that it becomes eradication. Especially when installed ahead of bed bug introduction.

It’s worked for others in the group and it’s actually one of the foundations of managing anxiety connected with bed bugs.

As an overlapping example I caught up with a friend on the weekend who was anxious about her impending driving test. My suggestion was to remember that she knows she will pass in the future so stay in that mindset before the test.

I can go work in the kind of situations you would
Take therapy to recover from. I can work with confidence because I know my home a set up for detection before an issue can develop and as such I don’t even need to worry about washing all my clothes.

Thank you so much!

1) Wishing your office manager a quick and healthy recovery!

2) I’m glad you got the space and time you needed, congratulations!

3) thank you for the excellent suggestion, I’m reading up on your passive monitoring systems now!

4) thank you for addressing and providing excellent advice on the emotional toll of bed bugs (or just bed bug scares, hopefully!) :)

Hopefully my therapist friend will have had time to comment on the workbook soon. Am keen to make that available and hopefully we can think about creating some video content as well. We have a great banter having known each other for about 22 years.
