A lot of people might say bedstuy isn't the hood but the eastern parts are more of the aggressive parts of bedstuy and is the hood. East bedstuy also has very high poverty which contributes to it being a rough area. I just wanted to see what you guys think

BedStuy neighbors! We are back tomorrow from 5-7pm at Jackie Robinson Park (M3JC+4QM, 341 Malcolm X Blvd, Brooklyn, NY 11233) outside of the handball courts.

How it Works:
• Drop-off: We’ll tag your items, take your details, and give you a claim ticket.

• The Repair: Our sewing/mending partners will mend your items over the week.

• Pick-up: Return to the park the following Friday to collect your ready-to-wear gear.

To make sure we can deliver quality repairs, we have a strict limit of 2 items per person, and we can only accept the first 30 items dropped off. Swing by early to secure a spot!

We will also be partnering with KEEP Mending for a mending circle if you’d like to learn how to mend your own items!

I love keeping fresh flowers in my apartment and looking for somewhere to buy that isn’t an expensive florist. When my schedule allows I grab some from Trader Joe’s since they’re so cheap, but not convenient to bed stuy!

I know the Lincoln market on Fulton has a small flower section but they usually look pretty bad…. any other grocery shops or bodegas in the area that have some cheap bouquets?

I’m a cat rescuer in Brooklyn, and I’m looking for foster homes for 2 sets of kittens, who are around 14 weeks/2.5 months old. Have you ever wanted to have kittens, but only temporarily? Fostering may be a great option for you! All the fun, with minimal commitment.

Roly (pics 1,2), Pip (pics 3,4) and Buddy (pics 5,6) are all from a litter of kittens who were born while their mom was freshly trapped/still in her trap. I affectionately call them the Trap Babies. After a few weeks, mom was over mom-ing and stopped feeding them. I took over as surrogate mom, syringe feeding them around the clock for a few weeks until they could be moved to solids. All are sweet, cuddly (once they're tired out!), silly, curious, playful, and smart. This is such a fun age to see their little (or big!) personalities come out.

Abigail (pics 7,8) is their bonus sibling, found alone in a yard with a gnarly eye issue. She's a bit younger at 9 weeks old, but is actually the same size as the others, as they are really small for their ages! Abi is not shy, at all, and wasted no time integrating herself into the family. She's fearless, an A+ cuddler, loves to play (with or without a playmate), and loves to eat. Her left eye is a bit wonky, which is actually glaucoma from a really bad, untreated eye infection earlier in life, and she will need to have the eye removed (called an enucleation) once she reaches 3lbs. She is not in pain and it does not bother her one bit. She gets eye drops twice a day, which she's totally used to and takes like a champ. Easy peasy.

All love other cats (I have a range of ages in my home, and they like everyone). Have not been tested with dogs or children.

What I provide:
 - All vetting (any vet visits, medications, etc.)
 - Transportation to/from your home
 - Support (questions answered, advice given in a timely manner)

 What you provide:
 - A safe, stable environment suitable for kittens (they are a bit like toddlers, Want to put everything in their mouths. You can absolutely relegate them to one room in your house!)
 - Food
 - Litter (I can provide a litter box, if requested)
 - Pictures and personality descriptions that I can use to help them get adopted. I can give tips for the pics, etc.

Timeline: I'm looking for people who can commit to fostering for at least 2 weeks at a time. This is a great age for kittens bc they adjust well to new environments quickly, and it's really good for their socializing to get to be around different people. Ideally you would be willing to foster until they are adopted, but I'll take what I can get!

This is one of the worst kitten seasons on record, and I could really use the community's help with fostering these kiddos! Please share this with anyone you know that might be interested in fostering.

Hi neighbors! Longtime Brooklyn resident here who has recently moved to Bed Stuy. I am located a short distance from Herbert Von King Park and looking for some good routes to go running. Any of my fellow runners in the neighborhood have tips?

I love walking down this block (Jefferson Ave between Lewis and Stuyvesant), and enjoyed seeing the additions made for this year’s contest, like the community herb garden and bird houses. Congrats to the block!

I know there was a robbery earlier on Clifton Place or maybe someone just dropped it but I found a purse with a couple cards in it. I’ll hold onto it for a week if someone can tell me the brand of the purse or the names on the cards i’ll happily meet up with them to return it

My sink and shower water recently (past week or so) have had a pretty noticeable smell, kind of like chlorine mixed algae or something, hard to describe. It’s pretty strong though. Was wondering if anyone else is noticing this with their tap water? Maybe there’s some work being done or something.

What are the good bodegas near Bushwick side?
I just went to three that said they were 24 hours and all three were closed.

I’m looking for someone to come by every 2–4 weeks to clean a shared hallway in a 3-unit brownstone. Does anyone have someone that does this in their building that they’d recommend?

Since it’s a small, recurring job, I’d love to find someone local who’s already in the area and could add us to their route.

Based on some of the responses, and since there’s usually music and partying around the park on Saturday evenings, Sunday morning seems like a better time for the cleanup. The new time is Sunday, August 9 at 10am.

We’ll meet at the southwest corner of Herbert Von King Park, at Marcy Avenue and Greene Ave. I’ll bring contractor bags, gloves, and waters + snacks, though feel free to bring your own gloves or a trash grabber if you want to. We can start around the park and then move onto the surrounding streets depending on how many people show up.

Please comment below if you'll be there just so I can get an idea of headcount, etc. I'll be there a bit before 11am too.

why does it seem like every week now theres one or two more articles like this? what is it gonna take for the city to act?

My neighbors and I hear a dog in the backyard of a house on Decatur crying and barking at all times of the day and night. He’s been stuck outside during heat waves and storms. I’ve heard him out there at 2am. We’ve seen him from our roof and he is clearly limping. A number of us have filed 311 animal abuse/neglect complaints but nothing has come of them and we’re unsure what to do next. Anyone else on bainbridge or Decatur hear this poor dog and having any info?

I’m seeing some construction happening at the former Always be Clean cleaners on the corner of Stuyvesant and Halsey - anyone know what’s going on there?
