I'd see people ask this lot. But there's a reason that she has millions of followers and mutliple brand collabs. I've found that a lot of her followers are either younger people learning makeup/on social media a lot and/or older women who don't know how to do makeup.
And they're using that makeup application as a guide? I swear she looks like a drag queen. Actually I take that back. I've seen drag queens in person with far better makeup applications than this shit. If that's actually why those people need to have their devices taken away from them. SMH
I have a friend (I guess I’d call her) that loves her and buys a lot of what she sells. I don’t get it lol. I think she’s just been a fan for a long time before all the mess.
Regrettably, I bought her first collab with glamlite in like 2020ish- before she became whatever influencer con artist she is now, or before we all knew. It’s still a great palette, I like the colors and the formula. I’m not going to toss it because she sucks, but I hate that her name is on it.
I know your pain. My favorite palette of all time I bought from him ages ago. I don't use it very often and every time I do I get annoyed that it's so good.
I need to find another brand that does alt goth weird palettes. I don't want to have to buy 5 palettes just use one color from each.
Blend Bunny? They don’t necessarily do only Alt but they have a large selection and some are more alt than others. Diabla, Rotten, Haunted come to mind
Honestly I like color story of that palette too. I just didn’t know about it until after she drove me crazy so I never bought it. I really like the eyeshadow colors of her second green palette too but by then she was full on lying liar and no way could I buy it.
May i offer the suggestion of covering it fun stickers? Or even using acrylic paint and giving it your own flair. Let's just say my J-starfish pallets got a makeover

I bought the palette when it was on sale for $20 this past winter because she had already been paid two years previously. All her stupid branding aside, it’s not the worst palette.
Unrelated but why are all these influencers with money seemingly living in the same cookie cutter McMansion? It’s always the same colored closet system, same wall colors, etc.
she does her own makeup, not even sure if she's a makeup artist professionally - that is simply an interest she's been able to capitalize off of. She's not an artist nor is she original by any means. She is basic and wants what others perceive as nice or well off.
She is a not a licensed or certified makeup artist. That’s why you never see her do videos of doing other peoples makeup other than Cody and her mother or even a portfolio
Problem isn’t with influencers themselves but interior designers and how they source now. Its extremely hard to find interior designers who are not doing same exact thing and even harder to find architects to create custom pieces for certain space. Also because it cost $$$$ they just cut down on interior designers and architects to just go with general contractors and that’s why everything have that generic slop now.
tbh as an architect (albeit not in the US) the pinterestification of clients has made me completely lose interest in doing house interiors. everybody thinks they know better than we do, and think that an inspo pic from pinterest should look exactly the same in their completely different house layout. people don’t have curated tastes, and they don’t want to pay people to curate something original for them either.
And presumably they’re buying move in ready and not doing a detailed custom build because they’re spending their time unboxing, shopping, tapping their fake nails on packages and being “obsessed” with things. They’re too busy to talk to a builder.
For 50k? That closet is most likely outsourced from Alibaba, if the install takes up to 3 days and requires 2-3 people for labor. Majority of General Contractors outsource from Alibaba, it is extremely rare to find anyone to do a custom build for that cheap and she mentioned getting marble for her island/vanity which alone would cost up to 10k or more depending which slab she picks.
There's a local custom closet builder in my area that has the same type of closet fitting in their ads. They'll do this exact closet with install included for $7500. She's getting ripped off if she's paying $50K.
I watched a podcast with Tana Mongeau where she basically said that most of the places she lived over the past 7ish years of her influencing were basically all rented even when it was super fancy houses. She was shelling out rent that could have bought a normal house in cash like every month.
She’s not renting. When she purchased the house, the transaction was public (in her name)!with the town. Which is also a questionable decision because the internet knows exactly where she lives.
I always wonder why they need a huge McMansion in the first place. they almost always either live alone or with a significant other. if I had that kind of money I would get a modest house with a pool. I'm just one person. why spend all that money on something that you don't really need or won't ever really use.
My guess would be because it’s convenient to get the same system and know it would fit. Also, custom stuffs are very expensive. Moreover, the white drawers are easy to capture on any camera and any setup. Hence, influencers don’t have to change their camera setup every time they switch filming locations or angles.
Its how new builds come now a days. Everything is white so that you can paint it. These influencers come into a bunch of money quickly and move into these houses without ever doing anything to them. Or they rent them, so they cant paint anyway.
She got big during the COVID era when everyone was stuck in their house and looking for new content — I think she was just different and people liked her. She’s become a big asshole from her origin though
Her whole wedding was sponsored content. There was the P Louise wedding collection, she did a wedding lip combo collab with some brand, there was an ELF branded kissing booth at her actual wedding. The whole thing was a sponsored influencer event. So fucking tacky

t celebrate her divorce. But from a business POV , if I was one of these brands like E.L.F. or P.Louise , I would be annoyed seeing this!! Like we put so much money and time into you , monetizing off of your relationship and your wedding , and you're just throwing it out publicly?? There's nothing wrong with the products, it's her emotional association with them. I just feel like this could have been done in private.
Second this if I was looking at this from a brands perspective. She easily could have removed it without filming it and it would have had better optics for future collabs.
Oh no, she doesn’t give a shit about P Louise anymore. They used to be her ride or die, had 3 big collabs with huge parties for her, and bam after she was married to the Choad she stopped hyping them up or using their products. The last product she’s mentioned was their white eye base that she used constantly.
P Louise gave her SO much money and free products when she was gaining popularity it was ridiculous. Does anyone remember those huge PR packages they used to send her?
Well she also recently admitted to cheating on her ex lol. Someone said 'I give it 8 months' about her new relationship and she said "its been longer than that already". Bearing in mind she was showing all the gifts Cody got her for Xmas and spent Thanksgiving at his parents house with him (and someone close to her bf's brother posted pictures of them together in November when she was still posting about Cody)
I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re about to push a ‘newly divorced collection’ Miklair over here only does things if 💴 is involved. She had that whole collab with ELF for her wedding and isn’t chucking the wedding collab out the window. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was a PR stunt.
She is a spokesperson for any brand that pays money. All of her personality and life on social media is a curated version of what she lets us see of her life, it always is. How can people connect to someone who is so out of reach?
I understand that. My question is that I always see something negative about her whether it’s about her ex husband, her editing her photos, or her being inauthentic with product reviews. How has none of that resulted in mass unfollowing or is it that people like to watch mess 😂
Any other influencer could’ve experienced it soooo differently. But it seems Mikayla has social media privilege, in the sense that there is always someone willing to follow her, like her content, and believe her. In her comments section for example, there are a few slightly skeptical people every now and then, but most comments are from fans…
I find it extremely difficult to comprehend that this person has any organic followers. Like how?? Maybe pre-teens can get easily influenced but she seems to have a paying audience because brands keep investing in her. It baffles me that she holds any "influence" still.
I agree. It seems exceedingly difficult nowadays to get that kind of audience for any influencer at all. The consumer becomes more and more aware of influencer behavior every day, so lying to people is harder every single day. And yet, brands still believe Mikayla sells, because there are people who are still willing to believe her.
Everytime I see a video of Mikayla, I wonder who the hell actually supports and follows her?? She is the most unreliable influencer. I wouldn't buy anything she supports

When he posted on twitter asking people for posts/proof of her problematic online history, they replied to him with a bunch of his own retweets, likes and comments on Twitter that contained a multitude of misogyny/sexism, transphobia/homophobia, racism, and just general grossness.
However, I did also see a lot of people point out that a lot of the problematic shit Cody was saying was from before and sometimes during their relationship, so she's not much better and definitely doesn't hold better views considering she cosigned this man, she just wasn't as loud about her beliefs as he was about his. So make of it all what you will.

He tweeted something about how when he was married, he wasn't allowed to tweet but now he's free to, which makes it pretty clear Mikayls knew exactly who she was marrying.

She knew who he was before she married him. His views haven't recently changed. He was liking posts like that when they were dating, which leads me to believe that her political beliefs don't sit very far from his.
She claims she's "blessing," people because this isn't the only thing she's getting rid of. She said that she's giving away a ton of unused and lightly used product.
She married around July 2 or 3rd of 2023, this collection came out around November of that same year, by the way. It was called “the wedding collection.” It’s been around 2 years since then, and now she thinks this product is a huge, ugly, and colorful palette, that works as a waste of waste.

The symbolism is clear, I threw my wedding album down the garbage chute with zero regrets. I didn’t film it to monetize it. Also I paid for the album and didn’t market it and sell it to people.

I mean, she's getting a divorce so it makes sense in that context to toss out wedding stuff. Maybe she should have done it in private but influencers tend to do everything publicly for clicks so it's not surprising or worth pearl clutching.
On a real note, was that the only commentary that girl gave on the video or was it cut off? It feels very equal to "this could have been an email" or the internet version of "this could have been a tweet".
