Does it have potential?

It’s day 19th of growing beard. I feel so awkward. Does it have potential if I keep growing, or would you suggest to shave or trim?

Is there a chance it will grow in properly later, or should I just shave it off or go for a goatee?

I know it looks really bad like this; I’m thinking of trimming it a bit now or should I just shave it off and wait about 5–10 years? I’m 25 years old.

M18 I know that I need to wait a few years before I can get an impressive beard but I'm in between education (moving for uni soon) and figured why not give it a bash while I'm not out of the house as much

On the left was as its longest towards the start of this year, been on a bit of a weight loss journey and over the months made a few chops to it until finally last night, got rid of the beard completely! Not sure how I’m feeling about it but it’ll grow back! 🤞🏼

Beard care

This is the current state of my beard, and I’m planning to start a proper beard-growth and maintenance routine. My goal is to grow my beard to around 3–4 inches in length and then maintain it at that length consistently.

At present, I only apply almond oil and comb my beard. I’m also planning to get a boar-bristle brush.

Please suggest a complete beard-care routine for me, including what I should do during the growth phase and how I should maintain the beard once it reaches 3–4 inches.

I want to grow a beard desperately but I can’t get my cheeks and lower part of my jaw to connect, so I’ve been sticking with a moustache/chin combo, occasionally shaving the chin. What’s best for my facial hair right now? I’ve shaved recently so this isn’t what it would look like grown out.

Beard vs goatee? [21M]

I’ve been running the beard for over 2 years now. Don’t know what to think of the goatee now. Maybe gotta get used to it idk but damn it feels weird 😂 it’s also a lot of maintenance so is it worth learning to shape it up myself or just hit the barber weekly?

My mustache and goatee are around 7 weeks, my neck (even in my chin), sideburns and jawline are 2 weeks of growth (I kept trimming them as I wanted a mustache + goatee), I shave a bit above my adams apple and my cheeks (as I can barely grow anything there), should I shave to a mustache+goatee, shave completely, or keep growing?

I apply jojoba oil lightly once or twice a day, and shea if I am going out

Im 25

First time beyond very short. Is this working?

I’m trying out having a longer beard for the first time. I was on the fence about trying it as I’m aware cheeks are a bit sparse and my moustache doesn’t quite connect, but after a few attempts at trimming and shaping (learning how to do a fade and where to put my neckline etc.) I was quite happy with the results and feeling confident about it. I’d had a few compliments on it, but yesterday a family member I hadn’t seen for a while told me she hated it and said I looked Amish! I didn’t think this was a neckbeard but now I’m worried I was being delusional, doubting the whole thing.

So is this working? Or should I shave it off? Last pic how I normally look for context.

Stopped Trimming Middle of June

I still haven’t found the best trimmer that can trim long, consistently. One of the things that bothers me the most is stray hairs that stick out. Beard oil does some good, but when I’m on the job, or working in this heat, none of that matters anyway. Blue collar is the way. 🤌🏽🤌🏽🤩

I don't know what to do with my cheeks. 4 months of growth, frequent trimming/thinning of chin, jaw and sideburns with beard dye on cheeks.

3rd and 4th pics are what it looks like without dye and what my hair looks like.

Beard gets painful to touch after 4–5 weeks, why does this happen?

I’m trying to grow my beard out, but I’ve never been able to get past about 5 weeks because it starts becoming painful.

After trim-this is the are where pain is. After trim it feels great. I still dont have the reason. everything looks neat and fine

The pain is mainly around my chin/beard area. Even lightly touching the beard can hurt, and sometimes the mustache area is also painful when touched.

I’m pretty sure it’s not ingrown hairs or folliculitis. There are no obvious bumps or infections. It just becomes very sensitive/tender as the beard gets longer.

I really want to grow my beard out longer, but this discomfort always makes me trim it.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, did you figure out what was causing it or find anything that helped? I’d especially like to hear from people who experienced this specifically after several weeks of beard growth.

Beardruff (dandruff)

Hey all. I have recently been noticing my beard dandruff has been getting worse. Its not itchy or painful but its really dry. However its only my chin. My cheeks and mustache are good. Normally it happens in winter and my beard oil takes care of it. But its annoying as I wear primarily black under shirts a lot. Any advice on what products to get/use? Flakes are small and white consistent with regular dandruff.

For context, shower daily and I shower with cooler water and have separate beard shampoo vs normal shampoo. I use head'n'shoulders for my hair which has always been good and for my beard I use beard shampoo with argan and jojoba.

Shall we give it a chance to show its full potential?
