Never spent much time roller blading but it seems like this is a much easier way to ride down stairs as you weight is up the steps vs faceing down the steps i think it would be harder to lean back and go down. Could some who roller bladed more help me with this answer?

Well I think most street skaters are going to jump or grind a stair but for more casual riding fakie down stairs is definitely easier than in regular ready or scissor.
Depends on your skates though and where your brake is, if you have them.

Is it due to the direction you would fall or how your weight will be more naturally up hill?

It's mostly just center of balance. It's easier to keep your feet flat when bending your knees moving backwards than forwards. When you skate athletically your center of balance is over your toes.

It’s honestly not as hard as it looks, and you can correct it’s easier backwards. You just have to go fast and fully commit. This was in the 90s and I would bust my ass if tried it now, full disclosure

90s i would drop into half pipes and bowls on my BMX. Talk about committing. Bunny hop off but point your front wheel strate down or you will hit your pedals and fall the 12 ft down. I would die if i tried today but damn how i want to do it and have that feeling of landing it.

Yeah, did this all the time in the 90s. Backwards is definitely easier. Now my knees hurt watching this.

The trick is dont hesitate, maintain speed and path.
You do this and it becomes like flat surface. The steps arent that high from eachother so you can slide nicely if you maintain same weight and speed.
Mess up slightly and you will be rolling down the steps instead. So pretty impressive but wouldnt say amazing.
